But it is even rarer for a fighter to accomplish a feat as stunning as what Terence Crawford did. On one night in September, Crawford became the undisputed super middleweight champion. He dethroned Canelo Alvarez, who had ruled for nearly five years, and whose accomplishments had put him on the pound-for-pound list for more than a decade. Crawford moved up two weight divisions to face Canelo, but truly three weight classes beyond where “Bud” was at his best. And he made it look easy. We know it wasn’t easy. If it were easy, then other super middleweights would have come close, would have at least posed some kind of challenge to Canelo.
