Andrew Main Wilson unveils news about the AMBA & BGA Business School Leaders Summit and Excellence Awards, both planned for January 2022
I n January this year, AMBA & BGA played host to its first ever Festival of Excellence and AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards. I was delighted to see so many winners and finalists from all over the world, joining remotely to celebrate their successes with friends and peers. While we worked hard to emulate the excitement of a live awards ceremony using virtual conferencing technology, I’m sure you’ll agree with me in saying that nothing beats the ‘magic’ of a physical event when it comes to an awards ceremony. For that reason, in 2022, my team and I are already working on delivering the most exciting hybrid event we can. On 21 January 2022, we are planning to host our first Business School Leaders Summit, from a stylish venue in London, featuring high-level panels discussing the key themes, trends and issues that matter to business educators: diversity, innovation, impact, sustainability, lifelong learning,
partnerships and collaboration. As with our Festival of Excellence in 2021, these panels will comprise a selection of decision makers from Business Schools, as well as industry experts, international employers, and business leaders, to create an authentic and discursive environment in which to put forward and debate ideas. We plan to host the event physically, but introduce a new hybrid dimension, bringing the same studio-standard quality live streaming for those unable to make it to London. It will be supplemented by both online and offline networking opportunities. This event will be followed in the evening by the ‘Oscars’ of the business education arena – the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards, which will be hosted in London with a sumptuous Gala Dinner for those attending in person, and a TV-quality live stream of the awards for virtual attendees. Our plan is to provide you with the most immersive and engaging experience, no matter where you are in the world.
With that in mind, the ‘magic’ of the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards depends on you. Last year, we were humbled and inspired by entries across all the categories. This year we know that the quality and calibre of your submissions will be even more powerful. There are 11 categories for which Business Schools can nominate themselves or their students and alumni. We have tweaked our corporate social responsibility to incorporate sustainability, and we have introduced a new category for BGA member, accredited, and validated Schools – BGA student of the year. For the first time we’ll be inviting you to share the successes of your students and alumni from non-MBA programmes – including master’s and undergraduate level. We look forward to reading your submissions and seeing you all face to face in the new year.
