LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO?

HOW ABOUT READING A GOOD BOOK?

perspective. Omerta by Mario Puzo in the vein of the Godfather novel and Mischief by Ed McBain, one of his 87th precent crime novels. Finally, Black Out by Simon Scarrow about Nazis and a serial murderer in Berlin in 1939. It’s a good one and very fast read.

Also on the same streaming service is Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone who plays a mob boss from NY now in Oklahoma. He can actually play the part and he’s progressed from It’s Not Over and Adrianne. It’s the mob in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the problems he has in starting up his own crew. Finally, the best of the recent past is The Penguin on MAX. Now I’m not a big Batman fan, especially growing up on the Batman TV show starring Adam Ward, but this series is good and Collin Farrel as the Penguin plays it very well. The season finale ending is satisfying. Unfortunately, season 2 will not air until 2027 since the show is considered a run up to next year’s new Batman movie. If you haven’t seen it, there’s Breaking Bad on Netflix and with 60 episodes it will keep you occupied for quite some time, followed by the movie sequel EL Camino. Finally, if you’ve got a day where you’re locked away here’s a series for you. I watched all five episodes in one sitting. It’s the HBO series Chernobyl which is excellent and really immerses you in what happened there. It is TV worth watching, unlike most else on HBO.

Or Something to Stream?

You’re bored and want something to do. The easiest and most satisfying for me is reading a book. Not the nook but the old hardcover tome. I read one hour per day pretty much every day before sleeping. Easily completing at least 40 books per year. I’m a sequential reader doing one book at a time. Some of my friends read consecutively reading two to three books simultaneously. I give a book fifty pages. If it’s a dud, it’s returned to Amazon or wherever I purchased it. When in Strands or a physical book store just holding the book and reading a few paragraphs, I can tell if the author can write and if it’s worth my time. Here are some recent books I have read. You Like It Dark by Stephen King – short stories by the macabre king. Conclave by Robert Harris, trouble in the Vatican in choosing a new pope. A Rumor of War by Philip Caputo on the Vietnam War from a soldier’s

I’ve been watching Blue Bloods for the past 14 years. Intelligently written and after all these years familiar. Yes, I subscribe to Paramount Plus with no commercials. It is impossible to watch a 46-minute show with 14 minutes of commercials and the networks know it. The show is being cancelled even with the stars taking a 25% cut in pay and the ratings still strong. If you subscribe to streaming services, here are a few others worth watching. The Old Man with John Lithgow and Jeff Bridges now with two seasons completed about a CIA operation in the Middle East. How can you not like Bridges, he was the Dude in The Big Lebowski. Then there’s The Lioness with Zoe Saldana from Avatar and the cold one Tom Cruise’s former Nicole Kidman. This is basically SEALS, Green Beret types solving situations. Now in season two on Paramount Plus.

No, we’re not talking about an outer space invasion from Mars but an invasion of bacteria within you. There is good bacteria and bad bacteria, and this is the bad one. Anaerobic bacteria now reside within your oral cavity. They like to reproduce and they like to do it in your mouth, why because that’s what they do and your mouth is an ideal environment for them to procreate. Inside your mouth it is warm and around one hundred degrees. It is also dark since there is no internal lighting and most important, there is a continual source of food. If you’re living, you’re eating. A warm, dark place with abundant food supplies is just what’s needed to get this show on the road. When you do not adequately clean your teeth, a thick sticky residue called plaque accumulates. Consider this plaque a city of bacteria that’s growing. Maybe you want to do some demolition work to remove these little buggers. It’s easy if you’re flossing and brushing twice per day. You’re ruining their day but making yours. Clean teeth are healthy teeth and with your regime of daily cleanings along with a healthy diet and regular professional cleanings will keep you out of trouble. If you are lazy about cleaning your teeth, then the plaque will build up and produce acids which damages the enamel or outside layer of your teeth, leading to tooth PLAQUE ATTACK

decay. Like an iceberg, most of the plaque is hidden and invades into the area under your gums leading to irritation and eventual gum disease. This is problematic since the gums hold your teeth into your jaws. A beautiful smile starts with healthy teeth and gums and if not kept up to snuff due to plaque build-up, it will eventually ruin your day. So, if you are experiencing a plaque attack, it’s time to schedule your teeth cleaning appointment. You and your teeth will be glad you did.
