Another academic year will bring EVEN MORE INNOVATION

Andrew Main Wilson looks forward with confidence to the challenges business educators will overcome during the next academic year
I n September, as significant numbers of you will be considering the beginning of another academic year, AMBA & BGA closes off its 2020/21 financial year – and this provides a great opportunity for us all to take stock of our progress this year, as a global community of business educators. As Covid-19 has continued to impact our lives in unforeseen ways, the AMBA network of Schools around the world has carried on innovating and breaking down boundaries. This is especially evident in our article on page 22 of this month’s issue, which brings together representatives of the business education community to explore what the future might look like for Business Schools and their students in the post-pandemic digital economy. With the deadline for the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards fast approaching, I and our panels of judges are looking forward to reading many more stories of success, innovation, achievement, and dedication to the highest quality
of business education. And we’re already planning a spectacular Gala Dinner and Business School Leaders Summit in 2022, to celebrate the winners and look forward with confidence to the challenges we will face over the year ahead. The AMBA network of accredited Business Schools continues to grow; our accreditation team has managed a portfolio of virtual panel visits with Schools around the globe, and are preparing to move to hybrid and physical accreditations as soon as the situation allows. Some of you will know that, in 2019, we made the decision to limit the number of AMBA-accredited institutions to approximately 300, while extending our outreach to build an extensive global community of Schools through our BGA offering. With that in mind, I wanted to highlight that, following the success of May’s virtual Global Conference, AMBA & BGA’s Accreditation Forum will be held – virtually – from 15-18 November 2021. The event will be hosted using an interactive
networking platform, complete with lived-streamed presentations and collaborative workshops. In terms of the content, the programme has been designed to help Business School accreditation professionals in their preparations for applying for AMBA and/ or BGA accreditation or re-accreditation.The programme for the forum is nearing completion, and boasts a very strong collection of speakers. Sessions will be led by deans, MBA directors, and decision makers from AMBA-accredited Schools, including University of Stellenbosch Business School; Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick; American University in Cairo; HEC Lausanne; and the Mediterranean School of Business. There is still time to reserve your place for this forum, as well as a wealth of webinars, workshops and virtual networking offerings throughout the rest of 2021, via the AMBA website. www.associationofmbas.com /business-schools/events/ Andrew Main Wilson, CEO, AMBA & BGA
