STAFF APPRECIATION HOW OUR CORE VALUES REALLY STAND OUT IN OUR STAFF With Labor Day coming up, I’m reminded of how great a staff I have and how lucky I am to have them in my court. With their talent, they could call anywhere home, but they chose this little corner of the world here in Costa Mesa, California. We are currently in transition with our physical therapy assistant position, and as I’ve been looking for an amazing PTA to join our team, I’ve been relying on our core values to find someone to fit the mold. This has given me the opportunity to see how our employees thrive off the core values we instill in each other. Kim, our front office admin, has been here a full year as of this month. I don’t know where we would be without her. Ben and Jared are two of the best physical therapy aides in town. Ben has been here for a year, and Jared has been here for just a few months. Their personalities really bring something unique to the table and create a wow experience for each of our patients. It’s amazing to see one of our core values in action on a daily basis. It’s a fantastic feeling to see the difference in each patient when they leave the office compared to their first visit.

There is a commonality in all of their personalities, though admittedly, it took me a minute to think of the right way to phrase it. They all are very people-focused, and it gives an almost electric energy to the office. They strive to meet each person’s needs before they even become a patient. Each member of our team tries to make a connection with each of our clients, and they’re engaging and friendly to everyone who walks through the door. This easily highlights people first, patient second , our second core value. This truly helps with someone’s overall success. When we are able to make a connection with them, we may be able to more readily determine the root cause of consistent pain and provide ways to avoid those persisting issues. It makes people enjoy and appreciate their experience when they come to physical therapy, which makes a world of difference.

When you have passionate staff members like we have here, you’re able to form a community. And when you have the benefit of being a small group, you truly get to know people because you spend so much time with them. This provides employees the opportunity to train each other in a host of different things and provide consistent feedback, which makes each member of our team even more versatile and adaptable. You see this community form not only with the staff but also with our patients. This makes our team members stand out and really puts our core value of building a community into perspective. The hiring process can be daunting at times, and you can't do everything yourself. You have to have the right people around you to help, and when you have such a supportive and talented team like we do, it makes a huge difference.
