Growing Together with You

How I Find Joy in Easter With My Grandkids Put This One in the Blessing Bank!

Last Easter, Marjorie and I woke up before the sun to set up not one but two trails of plastic eggs for our grandkids. It was our grandson, Karson’s, very first time hunting! He was only 2 and had absolutely no idea what was going on, so I “hid” all of his eggs out in the open. Our 4-year-old granddaughter, Konnor, on the other hand, was an Easter expert. She knew the jig from when she was 3, so of course, she was up at the buttcrack of dawn, keeping an eye out for that bunny! Her curiosity was bottomless: “Grandpa, is the Easter bunny a boy or a girl? Where does the Easter bunny live? Does she have brothers and sisters? Does anybody help her hide the eggs, or does she have to do it all alone?” I told her the whole thing was a big secret — nobody knows about the Easter bunny’s hideout! As soon as we set Konnor loose, she was on her eggs like a kid with 4 cups of caffeine in her. Even though Karson’s eggs were on “easy mode,” Konnor had 2 dozen hard-to-find treasures in her basket before he managed to grab one. It was wonderful to kick back with Marjorie and the rest of our family, sip a cup of coffee, and watch the little ones run around in their Easter bunny jammies. There’s something special about seeing Easter through the eyes of a child. The pure joy on Konnor and Karson’s faces at the idea of a giant bunny hopping around laying plastic eggs brought me right back to my own childhood.

As a kid, I thought the Easter bunny was the coolest thing in the world. The impossibility of a bunny laying eggs never crossed my mind! The eggs I hunted had little candies

in them, and today Marjorie and I hide nickels and dimes inside in our prizes along with the candy.

Of course, the coins and candy aren’t the real meaning of the Easter

holiday. We always go to church after our egg hunt to give thanks for how much God has blessed our family. Without fail, there is plenty to be thankful for! Easter reminds me that no matter how much I think I’ve planned out my life, God is the one in control — and his plan is better than mine could ever be. I think God has a great sense of humor, and I’ve been the butt of at least one joke (I swear, sometimes he looks down right at me and says, “Got you, Dellutri!”), but I’ve also had blessings beyond belief. I’m not sure who I can thank for those other than the big man upstairs! Maybe I’m riding the coattails of Marjorie’s goodness, or maybe the good deeds of my parents, my grandparents, and hers have brought us generational blessings. All I know is that these days, I’m trying to earn all the goodwill in the world for my kids and grandkids. If God has a blessing bank, I want to deposit more than I withdraw! This month, do me a favor and try to see Easter through the eyes of a child. Celebrate the joy of chocolate bunnies, plastic eggs, and time with family. Few combinations are so sweet.

FLORIDA IS MADE FOR MOTORCYCLES STAY SAFE WHILE NAVIGATING THE ROADWAYS

Riding a motorcycle in Florida can be an exhilarating experience, especially with the weather that we have been having. With beautiful weather and scenic open roads, Florida is a perfect place for motorcycle enthusiasts to explore. However, like any other activity enjoyed outdoors, it’s important for our bikers and their passengers to be aware of the potential risks and take steps to stay safe while on the road. One of the keys to staying safe on a motorcycle is wearing the proper gear. A helmet is essential to protect your head in the event of a crash, and other protective gear, such as gloves and jackets, can also help to minimize injuries. Additionally, wearing bright or reflective clothing can help to increase your visibility to other drivers, making it less likely that they’ll miss seeing you on the road. If you choose not to wear a helmet, I understand. Another important factor in staying safe on a motorcycle is to ride defensively. This factor applies to everyone on the road, not just the bikers. This means being aware of other vehicles on the road and anticipating their actions, and giving yourself plenty of space to maneuver in the event of an emergency. If you see a vehicle driving erratically, steer clear. For car drivers, being aware of motorcycles on the road is important — give them the same amount of space and respect as you would any other vehicle. By checking mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes and being mindful of the increased risk of accidents during lane changes or turns, you can help to keep motorcycle riders safe. With the above safety measures in mind, motorcycle riders in Florida can enjoy the freedom and exhilaration of the open road while staying safe and secure. Let’s work together to make sure everyone on the road arrives to their destination safely. Each and every day, we can make sure every biker and their passengers get to their destinations safely by paying attention to the roads, conditions, and speed limits. If you’d like a review of your motorcycle insurance, please let us know. Since we don’t sell insurance, we have nothing to gain from telling you exactly what coverage you have, what it means, and what you can do to better protect yourself.

Don’t hesitate — I hesitated for years and wish I would have called them in the beginning!” –R.J. GOOGLE REVIEW — MARCH 2023 A Huge Thank-You to Our Referral Partners!

Imagine coming home after the next hurricane to find your house several feet underwater. At first, you’re terrified that everything inside is ruined. But then you wade through the doorway and see it: An enormous, bright orange bag is floating in the middle of your living room. You didn’t lose everything, after all! When the floodwaters recede, you can unzip the bag and pull out your couch, photo albums, and mementos — all safe and dry inside their envelope of orange PVC.

A watertight bag big enough to hold a couch sounds like a daydream. But an Australia-based company called Krisis Bag made it a reality. It began five years ago when founder and CEO Steve Harris saw a news story about New Zealand recovering from a flood. “They were trying to clean up, crying, devastated — they’d lost everything in their home and were talking about how they had to start all over again. Suddenly I thought, ‘Why couldn’t they just put those things into a bag?’” Steve says. Steve decided that if no one else was making flood bags, he would! He spent the next two and a half years designing, testing, and perfecting his product. “It was failure after failure. The first bag that came over from the manufacturer leaked, the second bag that came over leaked, and the third bag leaked!” he says. Eventually, though, Steve’s team found the perfect grade of PVC and a watertight zipper. They tested bags in pools and real-life floods, discovered they’d stay watertight for at least a month and grew their business with bags of all sizes. Now, they’ve brought them to Florida to help us protect our homes and businesses! “You can set these bags up, shut the doors, and leave,” Steve says. “You can go away knowing in your heart, ‘I can come home, clean up and not lose anything.’”

Steve has big dreams for Krisis Bags: He hopes they’ll soon be standard issue hurricane prep for all Floridians, helping to lower our losses and insurance premiums. Pretty cool, right? To see the Krisis Bag in action, scan this QR code or visit KrisisBags.com .
