Dear STE Community, The Board of Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School has been reflecting over the past few years on the strengths and challenges of our school, and how we can leverage the former and address the latter in order to succeed in our mission of “creating honorable men and women through a classical education grounded in a Christ-centered worldview”, in our highly competitive Houston marketplace. We have concluded that our position as a classical, Christian school with strong academics and world-class extracurriculars makes us unique in our marketplace, and the best possible choice for families seeking to educate their children in a way consistent with our mission.
With this conclusion in hand, we set out two years ago to find a visionary Headmaster to lead us in achieving our mission; we believe that we have found him in Headmaster Seraphim Danckaert, who joined us last summer. Over the past year, the Board, working closely with Mr. Danckaert, has developed a strategic five-year plan, meant to position us as a leading Christian classical school in the nation, with strong academics, outstanding extracurriculars, excellent facilities, robust finances and a classical Christian understanding of how our education will form our students. In the process of drafting this plan, we consulted with parents, donors, students, faculty and staff, alumni and our mission partners in Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Church. This rigorous process, assisted by nationally recognized consultants, culminated in an offsite meeting of the entire Board to prioritize and formulate our plan. The details of the plan can be accessed by scanning the QR code below. The Board’s focus now is on executing this plan in partnership with Mr. Danckaert and the school administration. Plans must be executed well to succeed. That is a big job for us, but one for which we have passion, energy and focus. We look forward to working with the whole community as we raise Saint Thomas’ to the next level.
