SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME 2024-2025 DONOR Recognition
Elyria Catholic is pleased to recognize the Sisters of Notre Dame Loyalty Society. The Society pays tribute to the many Sisters of Notre Dame who have served Elyria Catholic High School. The first principal of Elyria District Catholic High School was Sister Mary Ralph, SND, and the school was originally staffed by eight Sisters of Notre Dame and one layperson. All of these sisters held master’s degrees and had specialized training in either music, fine arts, manual arts, household arts, or physical training. Together, they served 245 students and offered a classical, general, and vocational curriculum. The school was approved and rated as “First Grade School” by the State Department of Education, with outstanding ratings in supervision and pupil attitude. Elyria District Catholic High School was well served by principals from the Sisters of Notre Dame for its first 46 years. The loyalty of the Sisters of Notre Dame established the pillars of excellence, compassion, faith, tradition, and community upon which a distinctive Elyria Catholic education was founded. Today, loyal donors contribute to the continued success of Elyria Catholic and its mission: To help young adults identify and use their God-given gifts to learn, worship, and serve guided by Catholic Tradition. The Sisters of Notre Dame Loyalty Society celebrates loyal alumni, parents, and friends who have supported the school with five or more years of consecutive giving .
