KIM’S GROOMING Dogs are my passion! Among its projects, the foundation spon- sors the annual Oladopo Agoro Peace Award, and is involved now in efforts to resolve the issue of knife violence among youth. Every summer the foundation hosts Dapo Fun Day, which features a community picnic, to promote peaceful celebration and also commemorate Dapo’s life and values. Their efforts have earned Bashir, Abiola, Moji and Shola Agoro recognition from the provincial government. They were named among about a dozen individuals and groups throughout Ontario as recipients of the 2012 Victim Services Awards of Dis- tinction. The path to honour for the Agoro family began the night of June 8, 2002 when Oladapo “Dapo” Agoro was stabbed to death at a downtown Toronto nightclub. He was trying to break up a fight at the time. Inspired by his courage, his family has since worked to honour his self-sacrifice through creation of the Dapo Agoro Foundation for Peace. The foundation promotes non-violent methods of resolving conflict among youth in the Gloucester community.
