Counties plans survey on federal job loss

Staff are preparing a phone and on-line survey as part of the study and invite current federal employees living in the Prescott-Russell region to take part. “We hope that residents will be receptive and respond in large numbers,” stated Fran- çois St-Amour, UCPR warden, in a news release, “since the survey results will chart a clear picture of the situation while enabling us to act accordingly to ensure sustainable growth for the region.” The survey will be setup to provide The United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR) wants to know how Ottawa’s budgeting plans will affect the economies of its own member municipalities which are the “bedroom community” homes for many of those workers right now.

Officials from Twenty-Twelve Electronic Recycling (TTER) Inc. were on hand to collect used electronics and various small appliances for salvaging of valuable metals from their digital circuitry.

Ms. Yvette Bergeron and Mr. Gilles Surprenant have devoted 18 years of their life in service to teenagers and adults with special needs. Last year, they decided to open their house to an adult with special needs for a long-term commitment, to love him and consider him as part of their family. They are conscious that taking care of disabled adults, who have difficulties in organizing their daily life, means various challenges for them. “We are very proud of being homesharers as this life’s work is a very rewarding and enriching experience. It brings great satisfaction to see an adult with special needs expressing pride when realizing personal accomplishments and, as a result, being valued as an individual,” say Yvette and Gilles. Yvette et Gilles share special moments with teenagers and adults such as enjoying nature at the cottage, admiring sunsets and moon reflections on the lake, listening to birds singing or simply relaxing around a cozy campfire.
Madame Yvette Bergeron et monsieur Gilles Surprenant ont consacré 18 ans au service des adolescents et des adultes avec besoins spéciaux. Dans la dernière année, le couple a pris la décision d’accueillir sous son toit un adulte avec des besoins spéciaux et de s’engager à long terme à lui procurer de l’amour et de le considérer comme partie intégrante de leur famille. Ils savent très bien que cet engagement représente des défis chez l’adulte qui, à des degrés divers, éprouve des difficultés dans l’organisation de sa vie quotidienne. « Être foyer-partage est une vocation dont nous sommes fiers et qui nous permet de nous épanouir comme couple. C’est très gratifiant de voir un adulte avec besoins spéciaux exprimer sa fierté dans l’accomplissement de ses réalisations personnelles, et ainsi lui permettre de se valoriser comme individu », de dire Gilles et Yvette. Yvette et Gilles partagent avec les adolescents et les adultes de précieux moments tels que profiter de la nature au chalet et admirer les couchers de soleil, les reflets de la lune sur le lac, écouter le chant des oiseaux ou tout simplement relaxer autour d’un feu de camp.
Gilles et Yvette sont très reconnaissants de savoir qu’ils peuvent compter en tout temps sur un soutien et encadrement professionnel pour les aider et les guider à l’insertion sociale et dans l’apprentissage des gestes de la vie quotidienne des adultes.
