Brentwood (TN) Alumni Leading the Way in Healthcare

Addi- tionally, Byrdsong has been appointed to the Board of Directorsof the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protec- tions Program (AAHRPP). TheAssociation for the Accreditation of Hu- man Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP) is the definitive accrediting body for human subjects research programs and promotes high-quality and ethical research worldwide in 16 countries. Mire MD, FACP, (Beta Mu 1990) began his term as President-elect of the American College of Physicians (ACP). The American College of Physicians is the largest medical specialty organization in the United States, with members in more than 145 countries worldwide. ACP membership includes 163,000 in- ternal medicine physicians (internists), related subspecialists, and medical students. Dr. Mire is the fourth African American physician to serve in the office of President since the organization was founded in 1915. Mire is a private practice internal medicine physician, a past-President of Heritage Medical Associates, and holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical MedicalEducation for the University of Tennessee Health College of Medicine. Before becom- ing President, Mire had served on the ACP Board of Regents since 2017. In addition to leadership within ACP, he serves on the Rhodes College Board of Trustees and as a memberof the Execu- tive Committee for the University of
Tennessee College of Medicine Alumni Council. Mire earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also served as Chief Resident. Brother Mire is a Life Member of the Fraternity. On September 23, 2020, Quincy J. Byrdsong, EdD, CIP, CCRP (Eta Gamma 1990) became the President of the Societyof Clinical Research Associ- ates (SOCRA). SOCRA is the largest and premier educational organization for clinical researchers in all therapeutic ar- eas, supporting industry, government and
the Vice Provost for Health Affairs for Lipscomb University in Nashville, Ten- nessee, the first African American to hold this position in the University’s 125-year history. In this role, he has operational responsibility for providing the full spectrum of leadership for Lipscomb Health including programs in pharmacy, nursing, physician assistant studies, nutrition/dietetics, kinesiology/exercise science and cardiovascular perfusion. A Life Member of the Fraternity, Byrdsong also serves as the Parliamen- tarian of the South Central Province. Due to Brothers Mire and Byrdsong’s prominent presence in the healthcare arena, Brentwood (TN) Alumni has been heavily involved with community activi-
