Charter Members of the Epsilon Beta of Kappa Alpha Psi are Celebrated
R acism in the 1960s, after World War II, continued to cause problems for students of color. It took a focused mind and visual sense for nine young men to create a spirit of class at Fayetteville State Teachers College that they might leave behind a revered legacy. While the struggle to gain equal rights for African Americans in the South survived perhaps the most challenging times during the civil rights movement. Because of their commit- ment to education and student leader- ship, these scholars felt the need to bring guidance and appreciation to the campus and become a voice for innova- tion. Here's where it all began, the Fayette- ville Fort Bragg Alumni Chapter helped organize the Hopeful K's Social Club. On April 14, 1962, after consultation with the alumni chapter, these academ- ics were initiated as brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. The Epsilon Beta Chapter was born because of this vision. Such leadership affirms that these men personify community, mentorship (guide right), and scholar-
ship in the best way possible. As a result, aspiring scholars at

To name a few accomplishments, Dr. Willis B. McLeod (Chancellor Emeri- tus), a 1964 alumnus of Fayetteville State University and former Student Government Association President, has over 30 years of experience in educa- tion. In 1995, he was the first alumnus to serve as Chancellor. Dr. Jesse F. Williams, who graduated from How- ard University's College of Medicine, specializes in family medicine, public health, and general preventive medi- cine. As a family practitioner, he cared for his patients of all ages and at all stages of their lives. John F. Smith, Sr. (Superintendent) Kappa Alpha Psi is delighted to carry on the heritage of Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor. The founding members of Epsilon Beta will forever sing thy praises o’er and o’er. As aspiring leads, we’ll long for thee and toil until we reach that Golden Shore.
Fayetteville State University and the Fayetteville Fort Bragg Alumni Chap- ter are happy to be standing on the shoulders of pioneers and visionaries in the field of collegiate men. Thus, on Saturday, April 17, 2021, we commemo- rate their fifty-plus years as members of the Fraternity. In the Spring of 2022, Epsilon Beta will celebrate sixty years of achievements through their fidelity and philanthropy. Each member of the Charter was hon- ored with a declaration from Brother Lascel Webley (Middle Eastern Prov- ince Senior Vice Polemarch), Brother Samuel Green (MEP Senior Kappa Chairman), Brother Justice Rushing (Epsilon Beta Polemarch), and Brother Dr. Rodney McCrowre (Chapter Advi- sor). Additional members in attendance were Fayetteville Bragg Alumni, Brother Roberto Bryan (Vice Polemarch), Broth- er Dwayne Campbell (Past Polemarch, Brother Victor Sharpe, Brother "Judge" Stephen Stokes, and Brother Marvin Keller. From the Epsilon Beta's Alumni were Brother Ulysses Taylor (Interim
