In the December 2000 Journal, Brother Thomas also stated, “…we (the Frater- nity) Must Not and Cannot allow our name to be attached to anything that is not an activity sanctioned by our Frater- nity.” Brother Thomas’ statement refers to another aspect of the Fraternity’s IP: social events, especially those where the public is invited to attend. The only fraternal entities authorized to host a social event or any event where the public is welcome are Grand Chap- ter, provinces, and active alumni and undergraduate chapters. The Fraternity prohibits all chapters under disciplinary action or holding a retired status from sponsoring an event. All individuals (fra- ternity members and non-members) and entities, such as event marketing firms, party promoters, consortium of individu- als including non-members, or a group of fraternity members, are prohibited for sponsoring and hosting an unsanctioned event and explicitly naming Kappa Alpha Psi or any chapter in the event’s market- ing. This restriction includes using all Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity registered trademarks, symbols, and images to market the event.
