Smith was preceded in death by his grandmother, Juanita Baker; his grandfather Edward Baker, Sr.; his mother, Iris Smith; and his cousin, Kahliq Francis, who was like a brother. He is survived by his devoted wife, Athena Smith; his father, Edward Baker, Jr of Brooklyn, NY; his spiritual mother & aunt, Jeanette Washington; four brothers, Coren Washington (Joc- elyn), Amir Williams, Amare Williams, and Shaquan Perry; one sister, Nakiya Baker of Brooklyn, NY; parents-in-laws Phillip Sr. and Brenda Smith; and a host of relatives, in-laws, colleagues, fellow VSU Alumni, the surviving members of Testify Ten (Alpha Phi Spring 2001), other fraternity brothers, and friends.

Eric C. Ramsey (Hartford (CT) AL 1990) entered the Chapter Invisible on August 21, 2021 at 55, after a valiant fight with cancer. The youngest of two children,
entered the Chapter Invisible on June 26, 2021, at age. On September 6, 1979, he was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Iris Smith and Edward Baker. Smith was educated in the New York City Public School System. In 1997, he graduated from East New York High School of Transit Technology. Smith attended historic Virginia State University (VSU) in Petersburg, VA, where he earned a B.S. degree in electri- cal and electronics engineering technol- ogy. He later earned an MBA degree from Averett University. Smith began his professional career at Infineon as a Process Engineer and moved one year to the Newport News (VA) Shipyard, where he became a Senior Project Engineer. After thirteen years of employment, he moved to Washington D.C. to work as a Project Manager for the U.S. Department of Defense. He met the love of his life Athena Smith through a mutual friend, Leah Davy. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on August 23, 2008, at the Founder’s Inn in Virginia Beach, VA, surrounded by family and friends. Eric Christopher Ramsey was born on December 20, 1965, to Henry W. Ramsey, Sr. and Geraldine (née McLendon) Ramsey in Detroit, MI. He attended Detroit’s Angel Elementary School, McMichael Middle School, and graduated in 1983 from Northwestern High School. Ramsey attended historic Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated with a B.A. degree in commercial real estate. While at Morehouse, he was a member of the Detroit Club, the Real Estate Club, and the Morehouse Business Association. Professionally, Ramsey worked in the commercial real estate industry, which allowed him to travel extensively. Ramsey was a member of the Hartford (CT) Alumni and the Grand Rapids (MI) Alumni Chapters, respectively. He supported his alma mater and was a fixture at the annual Morehouse College Homecoming Celebrations. A proud Kappa Man and Morehouse Man, Brother Eric C. ber 15, 1971, in Fort Sill, OK, to Rosie Ray and John Earl Sumlin, Sr. and raised in Clarksdale, MS. A Clarksdale (MS) Public School System product, Sumlin graduated in 1989 Clarksdale High School. Sumlin remained in state for college and attended Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS, where he earned a B.S. degree in 1993. Sumlin worked for years in the auto- motive sales industry, including as the Sales Manager and Finance Manager at Bommarito Nissan and General Man- ager at LTD Automotive in St. Louis.
