cels at digital printing. “In my opinion where most compa- nies with digital fail is on the finishing side and that’s what creates the longer lead times. Our lead times are 10 to 15 work- ing days so two to three weeks. Without our finishing equipment, the flexo folder-gluers, the rotary and flatbed diecutters and the XP Kongsbergs, we’d be dead in the water. I can print sheets and finish them in-house or I can send them to any one of our companies. We have a ton of different finishing equipment on the West Coast.” The two plants combined are 250,000-square-feet and have four flexo folder-gluers, two rotary diecutters, two specialty gluers and two Bobst flatbed diecutters. They manufacture between 45- to 60-million-square-feet of board a month. Twenty percent of the business is digital. Since acquiring the companies, Golden West has in- vested heavily in capital equipment and workflow automa- tion. The equipment at Heritage was rearranged to make room for the HP C500 press, which sits perpendicular to a seven-color Göpfert Evolution rotary diecutter.
