VETERANS COMMITTEE

Progress, Partnerships, and Pathways

3. Raise awareness of EGSA mem- ber organization capabilities that are available to support the needs of the military branches. As of our last committee message in Powerline, and for those who were unable to attend the recent confer- ence in San Diego, we have named our Vice Chair, Secretary, and our first Initiative Leader. For those who are unaware, Tony Crandall is our Veteran Committee Vice Chair and Dave Price is our Secretary. I’d like to thank both Tony and Dave for their time and dedication to the commit- tee as we grow in 2026 and beyond. Additionally, Tim Hebert volunteered to Chair the Veterans Pathways Sub- committee which will be the initial focus of our efforts this year. That subcommittee met following the San Diego conference, and I am excited about the ideas and efforts that they discussed during that call. As part of that initiative and in line with our first goal, we hosted a webinar for The Department of War SkillBridge Program. In that webinar, Peter Shull from Schneider Electric Federal pro- vided a helpful and insightful look into the program. Peter’s firsthand expe- rience navigating the program while in his previous role as the Corporate Veteran Affairs Leader for Schneider Electric made him an excellent re- source on the topic and I appreciate him taking the time to share his ex- pertise with us. To build momentum on our initial progress, I would like to make the same request of all members as I did in the last edition of Powerline Mag- azine. Many of our organizations and employers have Veteran hiring pro- grams and training/pathway initia- tives for transitioning service mem-

bers. I encourage you to reach out to those program managers in your company and explore opportunities to share those initiatives and suc- cesses with our committee so we can highlight and support them. Shar- ing those within our organization is a great way to expand their outreach, inform our industry of current veteran hiring efforts, perhaps inspire some- one to replicate similar initiatives in their own companies where such programs do not yet exist, and to get the word out about opportunities in our industry for the entire veteran community. Be on the lookout for an invitation to a virtual meeting this summer before the next in-person EGSA conference so we can discuss status of subcom- mittee efforts, share insights from our own company’s Veteran focused programs, and explore other action- able ideas that will help us reach our goals. I look forward to seeing you in D.C. in September! Semper Fidelis! l

E GSA and fellow Veteran Commit- tee members, I hope you are hav- ing an enjoyable and relaxing sum- mer able to spend time with family and friends. I’d like to start by thank- ing the EGSA staff and all those who had a part in the most recent spring conference in San Diego. It was an excellent event, and I am looking for- ward to the upcoming fall conference in Washington, D.C. To remain focused on our three pri- mary committee goals, they are be- low for reference, and of note we have already started making progress since our last meeting. 1. Promote and increase career op- portunities for the veteran com- munity. While that is primarily focused on transitioning veterans, it also includes their spouses and dependents. 2. Increase industry training, educa- tion, and certification opportuni- ties for currently serving military personnel to support them in their current roles while also providing them with transferable skills that offer options for employment fol- lowing their service.
