pristine pris tēn, pri stēn

adjective 1. having its original purity; uncorrupted or unsullied. 2.of or relating to the earliest period or state; primitive.

Where are the most Pristine Places in the World? Even though the trappings of civilization are all around us, there are still some parts of the globe where human influence is small where 10 places remain the most pristine. From the ice sheet of Antarctica to the jungles of Papua New Guinea, Papua New Guinea is one of the most rural and least explored places in the world. Scientists believe that many of the world’s undiscovered species of plants and animals exist in the jungle interior of the country. Exploitation of the country’s vast natural resources has been hampered by rugged terrain, as well as the difficulties with the legal system and the high cost of developing roads, bridges and travel ways. Because of all these human problems, the landscape remains largely tough and untouched.

Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea (PNG) officially named the Independent State of Papua New Guinea is located in the continent, Oceania in the south western Pacific Ocean. It is located less than 200 kilometers (124 miles) across the Torres Strait from Australia. With more than 800 languages spoken in PNG, it is referred to one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world.

With a population of around 7 million, many live on the rural parts of PNG, only 18% live in the cities. Its capital city is Port Moresby and is surrounded by many rural areas with rich natural resources. It was once owned by Australia but since December 1, 1973 PNG has gained independence and since then, Peter O’Neill has been elected Prime Minister.
