The world is in our hands, what does that mean to you? By Ajani an 11th grade student at CCHS
Do you really understand? It means the world needs us, the world needs action. The world needs us to be active in taking care of her. We have benefited off the world for millennials, we have abused her resources consistently, and it is about time to give back. We as a species and inhabitants of Earth have to be more conscious and self-aware of our own actions. Now, that you understand the necessity of taking care of the world, what can you do? For starters it’s time to educate yourself, knowledge is power. You must begin to scour the web, read articles in the news, go to the library, and start going to groups or environmentalist conventions. You must understand that the knowledge you will acquire on your journey is only as powerful as you use it. This brings forth the next step.
Become self aware and conscious of yourself. A great way to begin this level is put to use everything you have learned. Start beginning to recycle, compost, clean up litter, and being aware of the amount of water and energy you use daily. Start learning how to better yourself, and others as well. Begin conversations with your friends, reach out to local news stations, or even just join internet forums. Remember, working together with others can make you an unstoppable force. Be kinder and nicer to others , as they are part of Earth as well. Practice patience and compassion with all. Everyone is learning at their own personal speed in life, there is no reason to discriminate against them for being their unique self. Learn to love, open your mind to why others do things. We all have things we care about and fight for. Instead of seeing someone’s opinion as wrong, work with them to understand one another. Also, practice self-care don’t forget to love and take care of yourself.
