“ "^AT here ’ s Mommie? I need her. vv Please tell her.” “ She is in the living room with our guests, Mark. Can I help you?” Dad dy inquired. “No, it’s private. I want Mommie.” Excusing herself for a few moments, Mother hurried to the kitchen. “What is the trouble, Mark?” “ Come to my room. I can’t talk here.” He grasped Mother’s hand and pulled her toward him, sobbing all the while. “What did you do? What has hap pened since Mommie tucked you into bed?” “ I didn’t exactly do anything. Oh, I should not have bothered you. I can’t tell you.” So saying, the little fellow pushed his face into the pillow on his bed and cried the harder. “ Honey, you have Mommie all up set now. You must tell me. I want to help you if you will let me.” Slowly, reluctantly, the family “ ca boose” raised a tear-stained face and haltingly began. “ I keep thinking ‘I hate Jesus’ in my mind. Oh, Mommie, I don’t hate Him. I love Him and He will not like it for me to think that awful thought.” Mother gathered a precious lad up in her arms and whispered: “ Darling, you do love Jesus, don’t you?” “ Oh, yes Mommie!” “ Do you believe He loves you?” “Yes.” The sobs became less con vulsive. “ Then when this thought comes to your mind you must say, ‘I Jove Jesus.’ That will send Satan scooting.” “ He is the one making me think this—this awful thing, isn’t he?” “Yes Sweetie, he is. But the Lord Jesus knows your heart. He will help you to get rid of this thought. Would you like to pray with me now, and tell the Lord aloud you love Him?” The time of prayer was precious. Gradually his fright and sobs subsid ed. Gently putting her small son back into his bed, Mother left the room a shaken woman. She had again gone to battle against the powers of evil for the soul of a child. But, praise God, “ greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). I
