Florida Tech and North Florida Surprise Dedicated Volunteer with 50-Year Pin How many of us can say that we have dedicated 50 years to something? Not many, except Andrea Boley (Delta Phi- Indiana U. of Pennsylvania) who recently celebrated 50 years of Alpha Phi with her alumnae and collegiate sisters from the Theta Zeta Chapter at Florida Tech and the Iota Psi Chapter at North Florida , where she serves as the collegiate chapter administrator (CCA). And the best part? This was a complete surprise for Andrea. “I didn't know that Florida Tech and North Florida were planning a ceremony to celebrate my 50 years in Alpha Phi until I told the [chapter advisors (CAs)] that I would be moving to Georgia in either late January or early February.
Our house in Georgia was originally scheduled to be completed in March, but good weather moved things along … so the CA at Florida Tech told the chapter that they would have to tell me so they could make sure I would be there. They coordinated with the chapter at North Florida and came up with the date of January 26.” Andrea said she has always felt proud to be an Alpha Phi, and that as a collegian, she wore something with Alpha Phi on it every day. Something she continued throughout her life and still now 50 years later. “I still wear something with Alpha Phi on it — letters, script, jewelry — every day when I leave the house,” Andrea proudly shared. “I am extremely proud of the Fraternity and all the wonderful women, both alumnae and collegians, that call Alpha Phi home. The Fraternity has become stronger and has provided so many strong leaders as mentors and great examples of what women can accomplish with the support of an entire network of sisters.” There’s no doubt her new 50-year membership pin will fit in nicely with her fashionable collection. Andrea shared that while it’s been a total of 50 years of memories with Alpha Phi, the past 11 years have been particularly impactful.
