North Platte Travel Guide 2025 | 41 events are a one-day version of fish camp, featuring information on how to catch, clean and cook carp. Novice or expert, the events provide advice on fishing equipment and techniques as well as demonstrations on fish preparation. The event is free, but a valid state park permit is required for entry. Car Show Presented by the Bloodhound Car Club 9 a.m.-4 p.m. | Mid Plains Community College South Campus Get ready for the 1st Annual Bloodhound Car Club Car Show on Friday, July 26, 2025, at Mid-Plains Community College – South Campus in North Platte, NE! With vehicle check-in starting at 7 AM and the show kicking off at 9 AM, this event features a variety of vehicle classes, awards, and a $25 entry fee ($20 for the Geriatric class). Trophies and special awards will be handed out at 3 PM, and part of the proceeds will benefit FUR Animal Rescue. It’s a fun-filled day for car lovers and a great cause—don’t miss it! Join us for Community Fishing Night at Lake Maloney SRA, East Boat Ramp! Hosted by Nebraska Game and Parks, community fishing events are held at venues across the state each spring and summer. Look for the Family Fishing Trailer, where loaner rods and reels, bait and fishing instruction are available free to participants. Fishing Instructors are also available to provide helpful tips and answer questions. This is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages who have never been fishing or haven’t fished for years to learn. The North Platte Pow Wow will showcase the culture and tradition of Native Americans with dancers, singers, special guests, and many vendors! Everyone is welcome! The grand entry is a must see and will be performed Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 1pm and 7pm, and Sunday at 1pm. There will be other events happening over the course of the weekend as well including a special kick off performance, a tipi rising, parade, buffalo burger bash, photo exhibition, special presentations, PTSD awareness walk, veteran honoring’s, tiny tot special, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, vendors, and more! Admission is $7 per person or $15 for a weekend pass. All attendees 65+, under 5, all veterans, and active-duty military will receive free admission.

JULY 22 Buddy Check 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | WB’s Fun Center

A special gathering of Veterans dedicated to reducing and eliminating Veteran suicide. Veterans are invited to enjoy food and fellowship during these monthly Buddy Check. There will be pizza and refreshments. Sometimes there are special guest speakers.

Apple, Oglala Lakota, grew up on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dako-ta. He shares his cultural knowledge and talent of Lakota singing and drumming, which helped him find ways to heal and recover. His overall mission and vision in life is to create a safe and nurturing environment structured through the Lakota Tiospaye (extended family) and governance system; to provide mentorship and demonstrate Lakota cultural concepts, knowledge and traditional teachings for young men and women to learn and use to help address historical trauma and social issues that are affecting them; to impact a holistic way of healing of the individual and family structure, which will then further strengthen the community. The PAC will also offer free art activities to compliment these storytelling activities.
