OCTOBER 9 Town Hall Lecture Series: Shailee Basnet “Everest to Empowerment: Lessons from the Mountains” 10:30 a.m. | North Platte Community Playhouse Now entering its 43rd year, the Town Hall Lecture Series has brought engaging, insightful and informative speakers from across the world to audiences in North Platte. Shailee Basnet was born and raised in Nepal. After completing university, Basnet joined a group of ten women, most of them first-time mountaineers, aiming to become the first all-female Nepal expedition team to climb Everest. In 2008 they achieved their goal. She then led the historic Seven Summits Women Team, the world’s first female group to scale the highest peak on every continent. Empowering others is her passion. One of her projects is running a program in Nepal that empowers young Nepalese survivors of sex trafficking. This event is a softball tournament featuring 8 Division 1 and 8 Division 2 Junior College teams. JUCO Softball Tournament action is coming in hot, and these fierce athletes are swinging for the fences! Race Day 10:30 a.m. | Potter’s Pasture Potter’s Pasture is hosting its 2nd Annual Race Day on September 27th, featuring a variety of gravel bike races (71, 51, 31, or 11 miles), a thrilling 10-mile mountain bike course, and 5K or 10K gravel road runs. Participants can choose one or tackle all three race types for a $50 flat fee and earn a custom sweatshirt. The event wraps up with burgers and hotdogs, and all proceeds support the upkeep of Potters Pasture. SEPTEMBER 28 This event is a softball tournament featuring 8 Division 1 and 8 Division 2 Junior College teams. Andy Buckley is an actor and comedian best known for his role as the CFO on the TV show The Office. For over a decade, Buckley served as a Financial Advisor. This position was the perfect background for his fictional role as David Wallace, CFO of the Dunder Mifflin Paper
