This course is an introduction to Canvas that includes exercises and tutorials to assure student success. The IT Department is responsible for issuing student laptops prior to classes starting. The college provides technical support for all active students Monday through Thursday outside of class times. Support is provided during these days from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Appointments are recommended to assure the department can address the needs of the student in a timely manner. Associates Degree in Nursing Program (ADN) Associate Degree in Nursing applicants are required to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Exam. The TEAS is a multiple choice exam that measures entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants. Applicants must pay an exam fee prior to being scheduled to take the exam. All applicants must take the TEAS exam, complete three essays, provide a letter of recommendation and complete the Associate Degree in Nursing application to be considered for admission. Applicants must obtain an overall score of a 71% or higher on the TEAS to be considered for admittance into the program. If accepted into the program, a $200 application fee is due at the time of enrollment. PAGE 8 - Specialized or Specific Fees Associated with Distance Education There are no additional fees associated with a blended program delivery. Students in the Associate Degree in Nursing program are issued a laptop as part of their fees and becomes the property of the student after the term begins. The college provides technical support for active students at no cost to the student. Material Circumstance that May Adversely Impact an Applicant’s Ability to Complete a Distance Education Program Associate Degree in Nursing programs are delivered in a blended format that includes both distance education courses and residential courses that are taught on-campus in the state that Sumner College is physically located. Students must be able to attend courses at the physical location to progress through the program. Students should research whether the programs offered at Sumner College meet their state’s profession requirements. A student’s physical location is determined at the time of application based on information provided by the student. PAGE 10 - Technology Resources and Requirements for Distance Education Courses Students must meet the minimum student skills, hardware, and software requirements for the distance education courses (online) taught at the college. All programs offered at the college include distance education courses.
