Robert Bailey | Revenge of The Jedi - The Lost Script

On the 40th anniversary of the release of ‘Return of the Jedi’, the third instalment of the Star Wars series, Castle Fine Art is proud to present Revenge of the Jedi – The Lost Script ; a unique collection of Robert Bailey original art alongside original script pages from the Star Wars film, ‘Revenge of the Jedi’, which we know today as ‘Return of the Jedi’. George Lucas changed the title just before release after he decided that a true Jedi should never seek revenge. Robert is one of the few people to have been made a Lucasfilm-endorsed Star Wars artist, creating fantastically detailed pencil drawings of the beloved characters from the series. Lucas spotted Robert’s previous work and then invited him to work on the book Star Wars: Visions , which saw 30 artists create their own interpretations of characters and scenes. George bought many of Robert’s prints for both himself and cast and crew members.

All Robert Bailey’s Star Wars pieces are stamped with a copyright to Lucasfilms, showing their authenticity and approval by the company behind the series. There will be an exhibition of the Revenge of the Jedi – The Lost Script at our gallery at Birmingham’s ICC from 9th June – 3rd July, where everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this unique collection. There is also a private event at the gallery on 8th June; contact your art consultant if you would like to attend. Read on to find out more about this must-have series of original artworks which Star Wars fans will adore, and shop from Robert’s full collection here – and may the force be with you!

Robert Bailey

Raised in Stoke-on-Trent, Robert moved to Canada at the age of 17 to become a photographer. After a varied career that included stints as a photo lab technician, advertising layout artist and journalist, he became a medical photographer. During this time, he published lithographs of World War II canvasses. His work was noticed by Star Wars creator George Lucas, who trusts Robert to faithfully depict his cinematic vision. Robert Is also a licenced Marvel and Star Wars artist, who has depicted iconic Spider-Man and Avengers scenes. Collectors of his Star Wars pieces include Harrison Ford, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, and the late Carrie Fisher. Robert’s art uses a method called hatching, whereby his closely- drawn parallel lines imply shade, tone and texture. The distance between the hatching marks determine how light or dark that area appears. Robert says about his art: “Only by practice can the dexterity of fine pencil work be kept up.”
