pastors, evangelists, church leaders and officers are invited to come from Hunan and adjoining provinces.. The value of th is splendid en terprise to “meet the present crisis” in China can be estim ated when it is remembered th a t those competent to judge say “One th o r­ oughly train ed native evangelist is of more value in evangelizing China than ten m issionaries sent to China from other countries,” and th a t a native evangelist in one of these “ Biola Bands” can be supported for about $75.00 a year as against at least from six to ten tim es th a t am ount which is necessary to support a m issionary going to China from this country. The students now in the Hunan Bible In stitu te come from tw enty different de­ nom inational mission boards, working in twelve of the provinces of China, these twelve provinces having a to tal popula­ tion of 317,090,952 people,-^the small­

train ed for this service in the Hunan Bible In­ stitu te a t Changsha, and .sent out in bands con­ sisting of twelve men and a competent leader, who go into a certain d istrict upon the invita­ tion of the mission res­ ponsible for th a t dis­ tric t and rem ain there, going out two by two un til practically every home has been visited. All these bands are now engaged th rough 1927 and some of them for several succeeding years.
