He declined to go w ith the party, in spite of the urgings, and remained in camp, as they called th e ir barn-accommo dations. He had read the le tte r again and again. Will Morehouse alive! But then ,this le tte r was eight years old, and much can happen in eight years. Where was he now? If still living w hat good could come of. seeking him? Would it not harm his son? He wished sometimes -that he had never found th e letter, and then again the old love for his friend would sweep over him, and his pity for his sufferings and wanderings was keen. He sought only th e best good for the boy. Had he been alone, had the little boy died years ago, he would have spent his all, and gladly, in finding and bringing back Will Morehouse, and helping him to a helpful life; bu t W illiam complicated th e situation. Should he tell th e boy? Must he crush the tend er memories of th e child’s fath er? It would not be an easy thing for the clean, sensi tive, tenderhearted boy. He could not solve th e problem, and finally he came to th e decision th a t he would not .tell th e boy now, b u t would w ait un til such a tim e came, if it ever came, when he must tell him. It would be b itterly hard to do so any time, b u t he fancied th a t it m ight be easier later. So he pu t off the heart-b reak ing ta,sk. (To be continued) “THE SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING” Opening the morning’s mail recently, a le tte r was found in which the following paragraph appeared: B |aMv income is not very large, yet I feel th a t the small g ift will help you in some way to lead some lost soul to our loving Savior. Enclosed you will find a check for Two Dollars, and while the gift is not large, please do not th ink of th a t, bu t of the h eart th a t goes w ith it, for it is given for the praise and glory of God. “‘Please pray for me, for I am a cripple man th a t has his home in a wheel chair; but, th a n k God, I have a place pre pared for me where I will not need th is wheel chair. P raise His Holy Name for salvation th a t is plenty and free! ^ PM a y God’s blessing rest upon th e In stitu te, and upon His servants th a t are working day and night, and may many souls be reached for God through your labor. Am en jp jf ; And our h earts fervently echoed th a t “Amen,” and we prayed th a t God m ight give us g reat wisdom in th e invest m ent of th e gift. We are always impressed w ith a sense of the solemn obligation resting upon us, as th e Lord’s stew ards, th a t not one penny of such sacrificial money shall be wasted, bu t shall be used in ju st th e way th a t He would have it used, so th a t it may command His blessing in the saving of souls. “D E F E N D T H E F A I T H ! ”
