Jesus. Not outward circumstances, then, but an inward relationship with the Lord of Victory is that upon which vic torious living is dependent. Victory in Spite of Outward We learn from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians that there were those going about who were very jealous of Paul’s ministry. They sought in every possible way to discredit his ministry, even denying that he was a true apos tle of Christ. They intimated that he was just a free lance, sort of an upstart going about with no real authority from God for what he was doing and teach ing. Some of his own converts at Cor inth evidently were disturbed by this sort of thing. Because of this latter dif ficulty, Paul found it necessary to direct attention to the marks of his apostleship. In the passage before us he shows that God had put His stamp of approval on his ministry by permitting him to suffer for Christ’s sake. For the good of the people to whom he is writing Paul seems to boast a little. In this sense he seems to act foolishly, as he himself says, but it is only for a purpose. Then he goes on to show who he was and what he had suffered for Christ’s sake. And is it not true with most of us when we read words like these that we are made to feel that we have suffered scarcely anything for Christ. The words in the verses 23 through 30 hardly need any commenting upon. They are clear. It remains for us to ask our selves, How much are we willing to suffer for Christ’s sake? or, Is Christ so real to us that outward circumstances mean nothing; we must be loyal to Him? That was the situation with Paul. Is it with us? That is the way of victory. Victory in Spite of Infirmity of the Flesh 2 Cor. 12:8-10 Paul’s experience was unique. No one before his time or since had a similar one. He had been to paradise (w . 1-4) and had come back again to walk upon the earth. It was a marvelous occasion during which he heard “unspeakable words” (v. 4). Such an experience nat urally would have been conducive to pride. In order to prevent this “ a thorn in the flesh” was given to him. What this thorn was we do not know. Some think it was eye trouble (see Gal. 4:13- 15), or epilepsy, or that he was made a hunchback, and so on. Whatever it was it was a severe affliction and Paul sought the Lord on three definite occasions that it might be removed. However, God did not see fit to remove it. This leads us to see that God does not always answer His children’s prayers in just the way they would choose. He didn’t in the case of Moses who desired to go into the Promised Land. He didn’t in the case of Elijah who desired to die because of Jezebel. He didn’t in the case of David who desired to build a temple for the Lord. And it may be in your case and T H E K I N G ' S ; B U S I N E S S Circumstances 2 Cor. 11:18-30

25 Years of World-Wide Jewish Witness for Christ This month the Inter national Hebrew Chris tian Alliance completes 25 years of service as a world - wide Hebrew Christianwitness. What the Lord enables us to do for defenseless Hebrew Christians in Europe, who found themselves at themercy of Hitler and his Nazi gang is well known. testimony continues unabated in fourteen dif ferent countries where we have links with Alliances of Hebrew Christians. The cries of our brethren in Israel (Palestine) are parti cularly insistent and heartrending. So many of these Hebrew Christians find it difficult to obtain employment because of their open con fession of and witness for Christ. To us in America these suffering Hebrew Christians in Israel cry: “Help us to keep our families from starvation! Please help us to create industries and agricultural enterprises so we can honorably earn our living and be free to witness to our unconverted brethren. Help us now before some of us lose faith, before we despair, before it is too late!” We have spent nearly half a million dollars in the work of rescue, relief and rehabilitation

Dear Christian friends please do help us to come to the rescue of our needy Hebrew Christian brethren in Europe and Israel. Your gift, no matter how small, at this time of great need will hearten us and earn for you the reward promised by our Lord in Gen. 12:3 and Matt. 25:40. $10.00 will pay for a big nutritious CARE food parcel, for a needy family in Europe or in Israel. $10.00 will support one of our Hebrew Christian orphans in our children’s home in Germany. An up-to-date News Letter of our work in Europe and Israel will be gladly sent on request.

of needy, starving Hebrew Christians both in Europe and Palestine. Many of these rescued Hebrew Christians are now at work as mis sionaries, ministers of the Gospel, evangelists, teachers and nurses in all parts of the world. How grateful we are to all of our friends and supporters who by their prayers and gifts have enabled us to accomplish this magni ficent work for Christ during the past 25 hectic years. Eternity alone will reveal what all this has meant in the over-all program for the salvation of Israel.
