King's Business - 1950-11

object of the angelic announcement and song. They did the proper and reason able thing. They went and saw the new born Saviour. You and I ought to follow their example. We can see Him in the Word, in the services of the sanctuary and in the ordinances of the church. Helps for the Children The Saviour Is Born Luke 2:1-16; Phil. 4:4-7 Memory Verse: “ Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:19, 11 ). The night that God’s Son was born in the city of Bethlehem, each group of people who heard the good news acted differently from each other group. The shepherds eagerly, hastened to see the new Saviour. Mary secretly rejoiced and eagerly listened to all that was said of her Son. Later, Herod tried to destroy the King, while the wise men traveled far to worship Him. The scribes knew the Scriptures supposedly but failed to see the connection between the coming of the Lord Jesus and those things which they were teaching from the Old Testa ment. Even later than that, the Apostle Paul commanded Christians to “ Rejoice in the Lord alway,” and to pray sin cerely and constantly. The Saviour had been born in his heart, and his life had been completely and forever changed. When the Saviour came into Paul’s life, he, like the shepherds, eagerly told all that he met about the Saviour. Like Mary he carefully thought about and prayed about those things which he heard concerning God’s Son. Like the wise men, he gave his very best to his Lord and King. How have you felt about the Christ mas season this year? Have you thought only of the gifts that you were going to give and those that you hope to receive? Has your mind been filled only with Christmas programs and parties? Or, have you been busy telling others the true meaning of Christmas? Has the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God been born in your heart? If so, have you asked others to allow Him to enter their hearts and their homes at this Christ mas season? When Christmas has this meaning for you, you may truly “ re joice in the Lord alway.”
