What Nations will he included in
THE IMPENDINGWORLD STATE? Sixth in a Series o f Prophetic Messages
By Dr. Louis S. Bauman, of Washington, D. C.
F | > HE first recorded command God ever gave to man after his creation, was to “ Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it” (Gen. 1 :28 ). This could hardly be interpreted as an order for the build ing up of a collectivist society. Bather, it called for a scat tering abroad of the human race over the face o f the whole earth. It was Cain who “ went out from the presence o f the Lord . . . and builded a city” (Gen. 4 :1 6 ,1 7 )— the first city—and, from that day to this, the city has been the rendezvous o f those who amass themselves to walk “ in the way of Cain” (Jude 11). It can be taken for granted that the “ giants in the earth” in the days of Noah— the “mighty men which were of old, men o f renown” (Gen. 6 :4 ) who led men in their rebellion against God, filling this earth with wickedness until it “ repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth”—were congregated in great cities. When God in desperation washed from the earth the great wickedness of these “ men of renown,” He again commanded the eight righteous souls who came out o f the ark, to “ Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Gen. 9 :1 ). Again, instead o f scattering themselves abroad upon the earth, the human race soon “ found a plain in the land o f Shinar; and they dwelt there . . . and they said, Go'to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face o f the whole earth” (Gen. 11:2-4). “ And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children o f men builded. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one . . . Go to, let- us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not under stand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face o f all the earth: and they left off to build the city” (Gen. 11 :6 -8 ); “ and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth” (Gen. 11:9 ). It seems quite evident that the Lord was not pleased with the city-building plans o f man kind, the collectivistic, communistic societies o f the early dwellers o f earth. When Abraham and Lot decided to separate, Abraham gave Lot his choice as to his dwelling place. Lot looked down on the cities o f Sodom and Gomorrah and made his fatal decision. He “ lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain o f Jordan,” and was fascinated with the glory o f the great cities o f Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham and his household moved out upon the hills and into the valleys o f Canaan, and there cared for his flocks, while, “ Lot dwelled in the cities o f the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom” (Gen. 13:10-13). The rest o f the sad story: is it not told in the Book? Thus it went through the centuries. The children of Israel brought down upon their heads the wrath o f Phar aoh because they would not amalgamate with Pharaoh’s world-state. Nebuchadnezzar formed his world-empire,
massed his mighty military and civic forces inside the four vast walls o f Babylon, and sought to unify all the religious forces o f the empire in the worship o f himself. Cyrus, Alexander and Caesar all built in succession their great world-empires. All o f them passed into the mists o f oblivion. Other overlords tried to build their world-states, notably Attila, Charlemagne, Napoleon, and Hitler. All sank in seas o f blood and remain only as detested mem ories. And now, once again at the nightfall of our age, men are in a desperate search for an abiding peace, and are looking toward some fabulous concourse of nations to coax the elusive dove o f peace to build her nest in our midst, and abide upon the earth. Men never seem to learn the lessons o f history. In every case, the attempts o f men have failed because o f a departure from the living God. Paul was right: “ Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way o f peace have they not known” (Rom. 3:15-17). Why? The answer is: “ There is no fear o f God before their eyes” (Rom. 3 :18 ). “ Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation . . . the harvest shall be a heap in the day o f grief and o f desperate sorrows” (Isa. 17:10,11 ). In June 1945, the representatives of fifty-one sovereign nations met in San Francisco, California, and formulated the “ Charter o f The United Nations,” and on the 26th o f that month this charter was formally signed by these rep resentatives. The closing paragraph o f the preamble o f this “ Charter” reads as follows: “ Accordingly, our respective Governments, through rep resentatives assembled in the city o f San Francisco, who have exhibited their full powers found to be in good and due form, have agreed to the present charter o f the United Nations, and do hereby establish an international organi zation to be known as The United Nations.” This is the world’s first attempt to establish an “ inter national organization” with the power o f a world-govern ment since Caesar ruled the earth. And, divine revelation plainly reveals that it will be the last. The revelations o f the Almighty God to His prophets, especially Daniel and John, cannot be misunderstood. Something is going to cause “ ten kings” whose political habitation will be within the confines o f what was once the “ fourth Kingdom” (Dan. 7 :23 ), to “ have one mind, and . . . give their power and strength unto the beast . . . For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their king dom unto the beast, until the words o f God shall be ful filled” (Rev. 17 :1 3 ,17). And that which even now is caus ing the nations o f Western Europe to release their sov ereign power into the hands o f one man, “ beast” that he will be, will be none other than the emergence o f Gog, the great Russian bear, “ out o f the uttermost parts o f the north” (Ezek. 38:15, R .V .). The “ ten kings” [king doms] will crush the great northern bear, for such is the revelation in Ezekiel 38 and 39. Then, when none other can make war with him (Rev. 13:4) the Antichrist, Satan’s
