FAQ FOR MOUNTZ SPECIAL ENGINEERING REQUESTS We offer special engineering services for customers who need customized solutions beyond our standard product line. These requests help meet unique application needs and support long-term success. What is a “special” or custom engineering request? Specials are custom solutions tailored to your unique application. These may include: • Modifying an existing product with added features • Designing a variant to fit your environment • Adding accessories or unique mounting options • Addressing a use case where a standard tool won’t work What should I know before requesting a special? Custom solutions come with different considerations than off-the-shelf products: • Higher cost – Custom parts, materials, and setup may be involved • Longer lead times – Engineering and production review are required • Limited flexibility – Pricing and delivery dates are typically firm • Final sale – Specials are non-cancellable and non-returnable once approved How long does it take to review a special request? We aim to provide an initial response within 5–10 business days . More complex requests may take longer. Your sales contact will keep you informed throughout the process.

Can I get estimated pricing before engineering review? To ensure accuracy and avoid misunderstandings, we don’t provide “ballpark” pricing until Engineering reviews and validates the request. Can custom requests be expedited? Unfortunately, custom engineering projects cannot be expedited . Each one follows a structured review and approval process to ensure quality, safety, and performance. What factors influence the cost of a custom product? Several elements may impact pricing: • Custom machining (we outsource all machining work) • Order quantity • Non-standard or specialty materials • Additional tooling or setup requirements Why might a custom request be declined? Some requests may not be feasible due to technical limitations, development risk, or resource availability. In those cases, we may explore alternative solutions or pass the idea to our Product Management team for future consideration. What happens if I want to make changes after approval? Once a special is approved, changes may require a full re-review and could impact both cost and timeline. We recommend reviewing all specifications carefully before approval.

How will I receive confirmation of a custom order? You will receive a written confirmation outlining: • The part labeled clearly as a “special” • Finalized pricing and lead time • Scope of customization • Any approved drawings or technical specifications

We’ll also confirm that the order is non-cancellable and non-returnable.

What if my idea could benefit others or seems like a new product? If your request goes beyond customization (for example, a new type of tool), our team may refer it to Product Management for future product development consideration.

Common Questions About Custom Requests “Why is this more expensive than a standard product?”

Custom engineering may involve unique parts, special materials, and setup costs. Unlike standard products, specials aren’t made at scale, which increases pricing. “Why does it take so long?” Specials go through a review process to ensure the solution is technically sound, safe, and reliable. This includes design, validation, and production planning. “Can’t you just tweak an existing product?” In some cases, yes. But even small changes can affect performance or certification. Engineering reviews every request to ensure quality. “Why do I need to wait for Engineering review?” This step ensures that your request is feasible, safe, and aligned with our capabilities—helping prevent delays or rework later. “Can you just give me a rough quote?” We want to provide quotes you can count on. That’s why we wait until Engineering has reviewed the request to offer pricing. “Other vendors do this faster or cheaper.” We focus on precision and long-term performance. If timing is critical, we’re happy to explore whether a standard product or an existing variation could meet your needs. “Can you guarantee the delivery date?” We’ll provide an estimated lead time based on the scope of the work. Because of the custom nature of specials, timelines may shift depending on complexity.
