Using Probes Three probes are supported by the M2 system: • Simple crosshair probe • Manual edge detection crosshair probe • Auto edge detection crosshair probe
Automatic point entry can be enabled for the simple crosshair or the manual optical edge crosshair when used in conjunction with the countdown timer. Auto Point Entry and the countdown timer are discussed in Auto Point Entry later in this section. Simple Crosshair Probe The simple crosshair consists of two lines crossed at 90 degrees. Single points are acquired manually or automatically during program playback (in CNC enabled systems) by positioning the crosshair intersection over a feature. To use the simple crosshair probe: 1 Select the simple crosshair probe from the Probe menu. Measure toolbar > Probe menu > Simple crosshair probe
2 Select a feature type to probe (circle in this example). Measure toolbar > Measure Circle button 3 Position the crosshair probe over a feature edge.
4 Press the Enter button or press in the Measure Prompt to fire the probe. A single point will be entered. Measure toolbar > Enter button or in Measure Prompt 5 Probe the required number of points and then press the Done button to complete the feature measurement.
