Edge Logic Function Edge Logic is an optical edge measurement function that reduces measurement time by enabling gesture driven control of start and stop measure commands and by automatically determining and entering the feature type for lines,
circles, arcs and distances. To use the Edge Logic function: 1 Cross a feature edge at the same point twice in opposite directions to start the measurement. The Measure Prompt screen will display “Measure anything”.

2 Probe a sequence of points on the feature edge (line in this example). As soon as enough points are probed for the system to determine the feature type, the Measure Prompt screen will display the feature type. Continue probing until you are ready to finish the measurement. 3 Cross a feature edge at the last point twice in opposite directions to complete the measurement and enter the feature. The feature will be shown in the Feature List and in the Feature Detail screen.

NOTE The default distance between the two points that either start or stop edge logic measurements is adequate for most applications, but can be adjusted to accommodate special machine characteristics in the Measure Settings screen.
NOTE Arcs greater than 180 degrees can be interpreted as circles by the M2 software. To change a feature between an arc and a circle: • Select the feature in the Part View • Press the Change Feature Type button in the Measure toolbar. Auto Point Entry Auto Point Entry can be enabled for the simple crosshair probe in the interactive mode and in the program playback mode for non-CNC systems. When the Auto Point Entry function is enabled, a point is collected by the system each time the stage is moved to position the part under the probe. The automatic point entry is delayed until the stage has been motionless for a short time to ensure that the probe is located where the user intended. The timer that controls this delay can be configured in the Auto Enter fields of the Measure Settings screen. The default values will be adequate for most applications. To use the Auto Point Entry function: 1 Select the simple crosshair probe from the probe menu. Measure toolbar > Probe menu > Simple crosshair probe 2 Select the desired feature to measure. Measure toolbar > Desired Measure Feature button
