Section 10: Programming The M2 system records all of the measurement activities that occur during a part inspection session. These activities can be saved at the end of the session as a part program to be played back later. All measurement activities are recorded and include: • Selecting a magnification • Measuring, constructing and creating features • Applying tolerances • Preparing and printing reports • exporting data When part program files are loaded, all existing features are cleared from the Feature List making room for new features from the part program file and preparing the M2 software to repeat the sequence of recorded measurement steps. . The M2 software can be in one of three operating modes: • Interactive • Program playback • Program edit Interactive mode The interactive mode is the default measurement mode of the M2 software prior to loading a saved part program and is typically used for part program creation or for performing quick nonrecurring part measurements. Program playback mode The program playback mode is initiated after a previously saved part program file has been loaded. The playback mode is used to perform repeated measurements of part features on identical parts. Once a part program file has been loaded, it can be executed or edited. A visual indication is provided of the current part program step and of the next step in the measurement routine. On-screen guidance is provided during playback that helps the user move from one feature to the next in non-CNC systems. At the completion of program playback, a program options dialog will be displayed that provides a convenient mechanism for replaying the part program, starting a new part, or evaluating or editing the current program. Program edit mode The program edit mode is used to modify steps of a previously saved or recently created part program file. In the edit mode, program steps can be modified, deleted or added to an existing part program. Functions such as re-measuring features, appending new measurement steps and changing system parameters such as magnification selection can be performed.
Part program storage Part program files are saved in the location: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Metlogix\Parts
Part program file names are in the form: filename.mlxpart .
