Psalm 81 1 For the Choirmaster. On the Gittit. Of Asaph. 2 Epi«¦p §x ©d Sing joyously to God, our strength, call out to the God of Jacob. 3 Take up the song and sound the drum, the sweet–sounding lyre and harp. 4 Blow the shofar on the new moon, to proclaim the day of our festival. 5 For this is a law of Israel, a decree of the God of Jacob. 6 God imposed it as a decree upon Joseph

when God went forth over the land of Egypt. ‘Then I heard a language I had not known before’:

7 ‘I relieved Israel’s shoulder from the burden,

his hands were freed from the basket. 8 In distress you called and I rescued you. I answered you in the secret place of thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah. ( selah )! 9 Listen, my people, and I will attest to you: Israel if you would but listen to me, 10 there shall be no

strange god amongst you, nor shall you bow down before an alien god. 11 I, the Eternal, am your God,

who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide and I will fill it. <<<
