YOUTH Family Hike with a Naturalist • AGES 3 AND UP

Winter Crafts Workshop • AGES 4 AND UP Get ready for the holidays by making nature-themed or recycled gifts for friends and family. While you sip hot cocoa, make a tree cookie ornament, a holiday tree, a milkweed pod ornament and more. To wrap your gifts, design your own wrapping paper using our rubber stamps and stickers on recycled paper or paper bags. Price is per person. All adults and children attending must be registered. At least one adult must attend with each family or group. This will be a slow (less than 1 mile) mindful walk connecting to nature through your senses. The walk will conclude with a tea ceremony made from organic tea plants from the therapist’s garden. The walk is held entirely outdoors. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Meets on the nature center deck. Support for this program provided by the DuPage Foundation. Class work will explore tools, evergreen identification, shape, use of textures, floral care and personalization ideas. Design will include fresh evergreens, pinecones and seasonal trim and ribbons. Kits include: Information/instruction sheets, coloring pages and/or scavengers hunts, supplies for crafts and materials/instructions for a game or two. Most kits are designed for a family of up to 4 children; other kits are for one child only. Please see each kit description for specific details on kit themes and availability. (ah) GOING BATTY KIT: October is Bat Appreciation Month! Use our Going Batty Nature Discovery Kit to celebrate these amazing flying mammals with fun activities and a craft. Take home kit includes: Information/ Instruction sheet, book list, coloring sheets, supplies for four (4) bat crafts, and materials and/or instructions for two batty games. This kit is designed for a family of up to 4 children. Items not included: crayons or markers, scissors and tape. Additional craft materials available for an extra fee. Please note: An email confirmation will be sent when your kit is ready to pick up. Join a naturalist for a fall multi-week session. Each themed, but unstructured, nature playtime takes place completely outdoors rain or shine so dress for the weather. Please note: Your child will get wet and dirty - it’s part of the fun! Caregivers stay with their child. Following a short presentation covering planting procedures and post-planting care, each family will given a potted tree to plant in their own yard. Then, your family can watch as your tree grows over the years! Register only one member of your family; at least one adult must attend per family.
