CARLISLE, DUMFRIES, LAKES AND ANNANDALE DISTILLERY Cumbria, located in the stunning Lake District, offers something for everyone, with its rugged mountains, scenic walking trails, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and historic castles and churches. HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS Carlisle | Dumfries | Annandale Distillery | Keswick | Penrith DAY ONE – Arrival We depart from your home and travel to Cumbria arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening. DAY TWO – Dumfries and Annandale Distillery Today we travel to Dumfries where you are free to explore at leisure. Perhaps visit Robert Burns House, enjoy a stroll along the River Neith, browse the town’s shops and find a spot for lunch. Later we visit Annandale Distillery where they use traditional methods to manufacture single cask single malt whisky. We enjoy a tour of the facility, learning about the production. As a memento of our tour, we will receive a gift pack containing an Annandale Whisky glass and a mini bottle of Annandale Whisky to enjoy at home. DAY THREE – Carlisle Today is free for you to explore Carlisle at your leisure. We recommend starting with a visit to Carlisle Castle, built in 1092 and rich in history, including the imprisonment of Mary, Queen of Scots. Then, take a stroll around the city centre and admire the Old Town Hall, a Grade I listed building dating back to 1668, also home to the Tourist Information Centre. Don’t miss a visit to Carlisle Cathedral, just a short walk away, where you can enjoy its medieval paintings, stained-glass windows, and stunning blue and gold painted ceiling. Afterward, we’ll regroup This morning we take a scenic drive into the Lake District to the pretty town of Keswick on the banks of Ullswater. The capital of the North Lakes the town has a range of shops, galleries, and interesting places to explore. Later we journey to Penrith where you have free time to explore before we return to our hotel. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route. and return to the hotel for dinner. DAY FOUR – Keswick and Penrith

DAY TWO – Lancaster Castle Today we head north to visit Lancaster Castle, a historic hilltop site dating back nearly 1,000 years and described by English Heritage as “the Northwest’s most important historic and archaeological monument.” Learn about its rich past on a guided tour, then enjoy free time to explore Lancaster before returning to the hotel for dinner. DAY THREE – Lytham Hall and Lytham St Annes This morning, we head to 18th Century Lytham Hall - the finest Georgian House in Lancashire. It was once the ancestral home of the colourful Clifton Family, who were accused of conspiracy during the Lancashire plot to restore James II to the throne. Our guided tour tells us more of the history of the family and takes in beautiful plasterwork, Gillow furniture, and historic paintings. We’ll also explore the mature parkland surrounding the hall. In the afternoon, we’ll then return to our hotel where you have time to relax and enjoy our base of Lytham St Annes. Perhaps wander around the elegant parks and gardens or take a stroll along the restored Victorian Pier before dinner this evening. DAY FOUR – Afternoon Tea Experience at Blackpool Tower Ballroom Today we head to Lancashire’s famous seaside resort of Blackpool. No trip to Lancashire would be complete without a visit to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom where you can enjoy live music from the Mighty Wurlitzer and enjoy an Afternoon Tea Experience. The rest of the day is yours to explore Blackpool at leisure. DAY FIVE – Departure This morning after breakfast we depart our hotel for our homeward journey with comfort stops en route.

Tea & coffee await whilst your luggage is taken to your rooms, time to relax before dinner. DAY TWO – Samlesbury Hall and Canal Boat Cruise We start with a guided tour of historic Samlesbury Hall, a striking black-and-white house from 1325. Then, enjoy a scenic narrowboat cruise from Riley Green Marina along the Leeds Liverpool Canal, passing nature reserves and locks, with a 2 course lunch. DAY THREE – East Lancashire Railway and Gawthorpe Hall Travel in style aboard the East Lancashire Railway, taking a heritage steam train from Bury to Rawtenstall, then continuing by coach to Gawthorpe Hall. Known as the ‘Downton of the North,’ the Hall features a stunning portrait collection and The Gawthorpe Textiles Collection, showcasing intricate lace and needlework. DAY FOUR – Oswaldtwistle Mills and Ribble Valley Scenic Drive Enjoy a scenic drive to Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village, a former weaving mill with over 100 retailers, restaurants, a garden centre, and a Textile & Heritage Museum. After lunch of homemade pie and peas, we’ll take a leisurely drive through the Ribble Valley before returning to the hotel. DAY FIVE – Departure and Bury Market This morning, after breakfast, we depart from our hotel and travel to Bury for a couple of hours, before continuing our homeward journey.

The resort’s attractions are easy to reach with your tram pass. Return to the hotel for a light lunch. This afternoon we travel to the seaside town of Morecambe. Stroll along Morecambe’s award-winning promenade with an ice cream and enjoy the views across the bay or perhaps visit the boutique stores and gift shops along the promenade. Look out for the famous statue of Eric Morecambe. Return to the hotel for dinner and tonight’s evening of entertainment. DAY THREE – Southport A free morning to explore and enjoy Blackpool. Return to the hotel for a light lunch. This afternoon we visit the attractive Victorian seaside resort of Southport with pleasant gardens and the elegant shops of Lord Street. Return to the hotel for dinner and tonight’s evening of entertainment. DAY FOUR – Lytham St Annes After breakfast another free morning to explore our base of Blackpool followed by a light lunch at the hotel. This afternoon we travel the short distance down the coast to Lytham St Annes. Perhaps wander around the elegant parks and gardens or take a stroll along the restored Victorian Pier before dinner and entertainment this evening. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with a stop en route.
