HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS Hawkshead | Ambleside | Keswick | Kirby Lonsdale | Skipton | Settle Kendal | Bowness on Windermere DAY ONE – Arrival We depart from your home and travel to Cumbria arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening. DAY TWO – Hawkshead, Ambleside and Keswick After breakfast, we travel to Hawkshead with its delightful cottages and cobbles, then on to Ambleside with its much-photographed Bridge House. After enjoying some free time here, we journey to Keswick on the banks of Ullswater. Considered the capital of the North Lakes, the town has a range of shops, galleries, and places to explore. DAY THREE – Kirby Lonsdale, Skipton and Settle Today we venture into the Yorkshire Dales. Our first stop of the day is the small market town of Kirby Lonsdale. We continue on via Ingleton to Skipton, known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive 900-year-old castle and Skipton Woods. Today is also market day so you have a chance to grab a bargain or some local goods. We return to the hotel via a stop in Settle, one of the most picturesque towns in Ribblesdale with its narrow streets and views of the 300ft Castleberg Crag which dominates the town. DAY FOUR – Kendal and Bowness on Windermere After breakfast, we journey to Kendal with its castle ruins, quaint cobbled streets, antique shops, K Village shopping outlet, and the chance to purchase the famous ‘Kendal mint cake’. Later we leave Kendal and head to Bowness on Windermere - a bustling tourist hotspot with a selection of independent shops and interesting museums. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS Kendal | Ambleside | Keswick | Ullswater | Glenridding | Haworth | Bronte Parsonage Museum | Quaker Tapestry Museum | Abbot Hall DAY ONE – Arrival We depart from your home and travel to the Lake District, arriving at our hotel in Kendal with time to relax before dinner this evening. DAY TWO – Ambleside, Keswick, Lake Ullswater and Glenridding Today begins with a drive to Ambleside for a short break, before continuing past Dunmail Raise and Lake Thirlmere to Keswick, the bustling heart of the northern lakes, where we stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit scenic Ullswater and Glenridding, then travel through Patterdale and over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, descending We begin with a scenic drive through Cumbria, passing Kirkby Lonsdale and the village of Cowan Bridge, home to the former Clergy Daughters’ School attended by the Brontë sisters and inspiration for “Lowood” in Jane Eyre. Crossing the Pennine Moors, once a retreat for the sisters, we continue to Haworth for a visit to the Brontë Parsonage Museum. Afterward, enjoy free time to explore the village and take refreshments before we return through the stunning scenery to our hotel. DAY FOUR – Quaker Tapestry Museum, Abbot Hall Gallery and Kendal Today we stay local with a visit to the Quaker Tapestry Museum, where we learn about the Quakers’ origins and their influence on science, industry, social reform, peace, and the abolition of slavery. We also visit Abbot Hall, one of Britain’s leading small art galleries, housed in a Grade I listed Georgian building and home to an impressive collection of historic and contemporary works. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy Kendal at leisure or relax at the hotel and watch the world go by. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast this morning we depart our hotel, and make our journey home, with comfort stops en route. to Lake Windermere and returning to our hotel. DAY TWO – Keswick and Grasmere After a leisurely breakfast, we journey into the Lake District where we visit Keswick, the capital of the North Lakes area. There is plenty to see and do. Perhaps visit the Keswick Museum, or the Keswick Brewing Company during our stop. You’ll also have time to enjoy lunch. This afternoon we enjoy a scenic drive through the Lakes to Grasmere. This village is famous for its Gingerbread shop and has a variety of stores to explore. DAY THREE – Roman Vindolanda and Roman Army Museum Today we journey to Roman Vindolanda - one of the best preserved Roman forts and museums on Hadrian’s Wall. You’ll also find the Roman Army Museum, where you will learn what life was like for a soldier guarding the wall on Rome’s Northern frontier. DAY FOUR – Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate and Dumfries This morning we journey into Scotland to visit Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate. Home to the Duke of Buccleuch and his ancestors for over 400 years, we enjoy a guided tour of the castle. There are 40 acres of gardens including tranquil woodlands, rose gardens, borders, and more. The Drumlanrig Tea Room offers an opportunity for a drink and a bite to eat. We return via a stop in Dumfries where there is time at leisure to explore. Perhaps visit Robert Burns House, enjoy a stroll along the River Neith or search for a souvenir among the towns shops and galleries. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

DAY TWO – Ambleside, Keswick, Lake Ullswater and Glenridding Today, we drive through Grizedale Forest Park, passing Graythwaite Hall and Esthwaite Water to Ambleside for a break. Then, we continue past Dunmail Raise and Lake Thirlmere to Keswick for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit Lake Ullswater and Glenridding, with a brief stop in Patterdale. We then ascend the rugged Kirkstone Pass, known for its inn at the summit, before descending to Lake Windermere. DAY THREE – Haverthwaite Railway, Aquarium of the Lakes and Bowness Cruise We start the day with a short ride to Haverthwaite Station, where we board the train to Lakeside. Here, we visit the Aquarium of the Lakes, home to pike, sharks, otters, and more. Afterward, we take a ‘steamer’ cruise to Bowness, where you’ll have time for lunch and the afternoon to explore. Later, we return to the hotel via the scenic shore road. DAY FOUR – Ulverston, Ravenglass and Wastwater Today, we head to Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel, with free time to explore. Then, we travel up the West Coast to Ravenglass for a ride on L’al Ratty, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway. Next, we visit Wastwater, voted Britain’s favourite view, before returning to the hotel via the southern fells. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
