A spring tour to Yorkshire. Visit Renishaw Hall, home to the Sitwell family since 1625, explore York’s chocolate heritage at the Chocolate Story, and enjoy free time in the city. In Leeds, visit the Royal Armouries, an interactive museum on warfare advancements. HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS Renishaw Hall | Chocolate Story York | Royal Armouries Leeds | York | Chesterfield | Leeds DAY ONE – Arrival We depart from your home and travel to Yorkshire arriving in the afternoon with time to relax before dinner this evening. DAY TWO – Leeds and Leeds Royal Armouries Museum This morning, we head into the City of Leeds. Making a stop at the Royal Armouries home to a large collection of military equipment and tells the story of advancements through the ages. The rest of the day will then be free to explore this city at your own leisure. Perhaps go shopping in the Trinity shopping centre, visit Leeds Art Gallery, and grab lunch in one of the city’s many restaurants and bars. DAY THREE – York ‘The Chocolate Story’ After a leisurely breakfast, we journey to the historic walled city of York where we begin our day with a visit to ‘The Chocolate Story’. We enjoy a guided tour of the interactive museum that showcases the heritage of chocolate making in York, including Rowntree’s factory which opened in 1890. The rest of the day is free to explore the city at leisure. Perhaps browse the city’s shops or visit The National Railway Museum. No visit to York is complete without seeing the magnificent Minster, the surrounding narrow streets, and little alleyways, including the famous Shambles. DAY FOUR – Chesterfield and Renishaw Hall This morning, we start with a drive to Chesterfield - home to the famous Crooked Spire of St Mary’s Church. How did it happen? Later we visit Renishaw Hall home to the Sitwell family since it was built by Sir George Sitwell in 1625. We enjoy a guided tour of the hall to learn about the spectacular collection of art and historical artifacts put together by generations of the Sitwell family. DAY FIVE – Departure After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
Scarborough enjoys an unrivalled position as one of Britain’s premier coastal resorts yet also lies tantalisingly close to North Yorkshire’s rugged National Park. HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS Whitby | Scarborough | York DAY ONE – Arrival We depart from your home with our door-to-door pick-up service, join your tour coach and travel north to Yorkshire with comfort stops en route. Arrive at your hotel late afternoon, time to relax before dinner. DAY TWO – Whitby This morning we head north following the coast road to Whitby, the famous fishing port which was once the home of Captain James Cook. High above the harbour stands the 7th century Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. We have time to wander around before leaving for a scenic journey across the moors to Pickering and then back to our hotel. DAY THREE – Scarborough A free day to discover the varied attractions of Scarborough. Enjoy the delightful promenade in the South Cliff Gardens, take a short walk to the town centre and shops, or amble down to the beaches of South Bay or the busy little harbour. Have a look at the restored Open-Air Theatre, built in the 1930s and reopened by the late Her Majesty the Queen in 2010. Explore the town with its indoor markets and antique shops or walk up to Scarborough’s fortress castle and enjoy the views across the bays. DAY FOUR – York This morning we journey to the ancient and historic city of York, where there are many things to see and do – The National Railway Museum, The Jorvik Centre, The Castle Museum or just stroll around the city walls, enjoy the excellent shops and explore the many quaint little alleyways and of course no visit to York is complete without seeing the magnificent York Minster. Late afternoon, we return to Scarborough. DAY FIVE – Departure Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we depart our hotel and begin our homeward journey with comfort stops en route.
