Hosted in the parking lot of Maximum Powersports, Hawkebury’s Bike Night tradition kicked off its 2024 season of gatherings on Friday night, June 7, even if mother nature was testing their persis- tence with a mix of rain and sunshine. The annual gathering in support of the motorcycling community in the region held its àSTUFWFOJOHPGGPPE NVTJDBOEGVOESBJTJOH welcoming over 200 participants despite a less-than-ideal weather forecast for those looking to ride their hogs. L’organisatrice principale de Bike Night à Hawkesbury, Nathalie Lessard (au centre, à gauche, elle tient le chèque), a présenté les fonds recueillis l’an dernier à l’organisme Bikers Against Child Abuse. Le premier rassemblement annuel du Bike Night à Hawkesbury a eu lieu le vendredi 7 juin, chez Maximum Powersports à Hawkesbury. Une nouvelle école secondaire publique de langue française verra le jour à Rockland au cours des prochaines années. Le gouvernement provincial a annoncé, la semaine dernière, qu’il investissait 62,2 millions de dollars pour construire de nou- velles écoles secondaires francophones à Rockland et à Orléans-Sud. L’annonce a été faite le 7 juin par le député provincial de Glengarry-Prescott- Russell, Stéphane Sarrazin, qui a souligné que les élèves de la région se rendent à Orléans ou à Casselman pour fréquenter l’école secondaire. Au cours des prochaines années, les adolescents n’auront plus à quitter leur communauté pour apprendre. « La communauté attendait cette annonce depuis très longtemps, a déclaré le député Sarrazin lors de l’annonce, qui a eu lieu au Carrefour Jeunesse.
