Susan Platt: "The Eye of the Artist"

BIBLIOTECA DE ARTISTAS DE LAS COMUNIDADES EUROPEAS EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES ARTISTS’ LIBRARY

A short introduction to SUSAN PLATT

As a photographer myself (I started in the “sixties”), I must recognize not only the quality of Susan’s works but her compromise with the world around her. Her use of a traditional camera –not the today “cellphones” - it places her among the most prominent figures in photographic art in America. In nature we find peace, beauty and a sense of connection to the world around us. This book takes you on a visual journey through the natural world, showcasing breathtaking images of animals, landscape, cities, human life and ecosystems. Her works are not just visually stunning, but also thought-provoking and emotionally resonant. Her point of view invites the viewer to reflect on the complexities of the human condition. Also, are a powerful exploration of identity, community and a particular view of the reality that many people cannot or do not want to see. Beauty is not easily found in a world where things change every day.

SUSAN PLATT Short Biography.

Susan Platt (1966), crafts photographs that are not just visual spectacles, but poignant reflections of the human spirit and the natural world. Each image she captures is a testament to her unique perspective, a kaleidoscope of moments frozen in time. Platt was born and raised in Northern California. She began her career as a wedding/portrait photographer and studio owner. Her work transitioned to fine art photography in 2008 and since then, her bodies of work have received numerous awards and accolades. Her most recent exhibition was a solo show in New York City at the Artifact Gallery entitled “Frame by Frame: Word by Word”, which encompassed photographs from her abstract, and urban/still/wildlife bodies of work and her unique narratives that added another layer to her artist’s palate. Currently, Platt is working on several new photographic storytelling projects she will be introducing in 2025 and 2026 that include political and natural world content. Her hope for these projects is to share with her audience that our world is in a fragile state and we all must work to make it a better place for all to co-exist peacefully. Platt resides in Norther California with her life partner, Jamie, and her photo assistants shepherd mix Wilson, terrier mix Tazzie Moe, yorkie Roxi, and miniature schnauzer Bodhi, all of whom continue to support and inspire Platt in all of her photographic endeavors.
