Phone Berkeley 7864-W. A P opu lar Heresy We feel for our Jewish friends all pos sible kindness, but the habit of our day in counting them co-religionists has quite naturally resulted in their protest against the efforts of Christians to win them to Christianity. We are sent to win people of all other faiths to Christianity. Chris tianity is not simply one of the world’s religions, but it is the religion that God revealed as intended for the salvation of all men. The Jews worship our God as their fathers did, but they need our Sav iour as their fathers did. A rabbi at the recent meeting of the Federation of Churches in Rochester, in speaking of anti-Semitism, suggested that Christians should no longer claim that the Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus. In other words, in the interest of racial and religious good will they would change the manifest teaching of the New Testament! It is perfectly proper that we shall esteem the Jews as neighbors, and that we shall honor them because they worship God, but where do we get the authority for absolving them from the necessity of ac cepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour? Many who support Jewish missions be lieve that their particular function is to reach the Jews who have drifted from their ancestral faith. We believe that Christ is still “King of the Jews,” and that even the rabbis ought to accept Him and acknowledge Him as King.— Watch man-Examiner.
