THE GARDENS AT ELMPARK GREEN, DUBLIN
KERRIGAN MECHANICAL’S INSTALLATION ALSO REQUIRED CAREFUL CO-ORDINATION TO MINIMISE DISRUPTION TO FACILITIES AND TENANTS WITHIN THE EXISTING ELMPARK COMPLEX… CENTRALISED DISTRICT HEATING ALIGNED WITH EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE
Delivering the mechanical installation for a sustainable central district heating system in The Gardens at Elm Park Green luxury apartment complex is the latest is a series of prestigious residential projects secured by Kerrigan Mechanical. Having established a reputation as an expert in the field of communal and district heating schemes, the Co Meath firm was tasked with installing a centralised district energy centre able to concurrently operate with complex infrastructure already in place at Elm Park. The existing development at Elm Park features one of the first Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland-backed biomass energy plants in the country. Adam Dent, Senior Contracts Manager at Kerrigan Mechanical, said, “The scope was to generate The Garden’s energy with our own renewable energy via air-source heat pumps and a combined heat-and- power unit, but also having the comfort of knowing the client can procure energy from the existing complex system should the need arise. “The system was designed to operate standalone for typical day-to-day operation, with additional energy being
required for peak times.” Project challenges included co-ordinating works to minimise disruption to existing facilities and tenants within the complex. “We had to be mindful that people were not only living but also working in the surrounding areas of the once-green field site,” said Adam. “We also had the challenge of night works to successfully bond to the existing centralised heating circuit. This was no easy task but successfully completed over two separate nights.” Early collaboration with both the builder and design engineer ensured seamless coordination, with the partnership enabling each team to excel in their roles and deliver the project on schedule and within budget. “A key factor that sets our company apart from others is its commitment to innovative, sustainable solutions,” said Adam. “By prioritising the implementation of cutting- edge technologies such as energy-efficient HVAC systems, advanced automation controls and eco-friendly materials, Kerrigan Mechanical not only enhances the performance and longevity of mechanical systems but also significantly reduces environmental impact. “This forward-thinking approach not only
meets but exceeds industry standards, providing clients with superior, cost- effective solutions that align with modern environmental goals and regulations. Additionally, the company’s focus on continuous improvement and adaptation to emerging technologies ensures they remain a leader in the mechanical industry, offering unparalleled expertise and value to their clients.”
