Great Customer Experience Program

GCE South

The THA’s Great Customer Experience Program continues to grow and expand, assisting hospitality and tourism businesses throughout Tasmania. We work closely with RTOs (regional tourism organisations) business groups, councils and LTAs (local tourism associations) to ensure we are reaching as many operators as possible and supporting them to create great and profitable experiences. Recently we have presented GCE community sessions for the Tasman Peninsula and for the Central Highlands and Derwent Valley. Both sessions were presented with Destination Southern Tasmania along with the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands Tourism Association, and the Tasman Business and Tourism Association. All

of each region and ways in which businesses can coordinate and support each other to increase visitation and enhance the guest experience. Everyone agreed the experience always comes back to staff training and buy-in with the GCE Program being a key resource to support businesses in this way. After each session everyone could network and a number of operators locked in engagement with the GCE and have since had Venue Awareness sessions for their staff. The next GCE Community session will be in September at Derby in the North East of the State where the Blue Derby Foundation along with the THA and Visit Northern Tasmania have encouraged local businesses in the mountain biking boom town to look at continuing to improve the guest experience in their area.

Local council members were also keen to be involved. The Tasman GCE session was well attended at the wonderful 1830 restaurant at Port Arthur Historic Site. The Derwent Valley & Central Highlands GCE session was attended by a wide variety of businesses and was held at the historic Rathmore farm accommodation.
