Industry’s own training organisation has just launched a new hotel school aimed at training the next generation of skilled workers vital for the hospitality sector. Premier Jeremy Rockliff unveiled the new Visitor Experience Training (VXT) program, supported by Tasmanian Hospitality Association CEO Steve Old and Tourism Industry Council CEO Amy Hills, highlighting the growing demand for hospitality professionals in a state where tourism has become a major employer at the launch event. Programs like this recognise the importance of the tourism and hospitality sector, and this pilot will offer a range of short courses designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to thrive in various roles within the hotel industry. Areas of training will include housekeeping, food and beverage service, front- of-house operations, and bar management, among others. This is a pilot program and VXT is aiming to replicate the model for delivery in partnership with industry businesses in other areas of the state. Expressions of
Interest are open now for hotel school participants at www.vxt.org.au
