Q. Walla Walla, Wash. — “W e have wondered about joining a church. It is my feeling that it would b e better to belong to a good Bible-believing church than to jump around from one to another.” A. You will certainly find that your faith will be built up more firmly in the Word when you put your roots down in a fellowship of believers where the Gospel is proclaimed in power and conviction. This is espe cially true if there are children in volved. They need a sense of perma nence. Really the only reason for changing churches is when there is an indication of apostasy or some other serious problem. In all cases, seek for the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let Him guide you in such vital decisions. Q. Fullerton, Calif. - “Why do we have different races o f people? Did the Negro race occur because o f God’s anger at the woman and, as a result, said that her offspring would b e black?” A. The Word of God indicates that in the beginning the Lord created
Adam, and from him Eve. At the start there was obviously only one color. What that was no one knows. The important thing is all the human family came from Adam and Eve, and then later from Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. While some may argue that Ham was the darkest of the three, there is no Scrip tural, geographical or anthropologi cal proof for the theory. Likewise, there is no verse which asserts that the Negro race came about because of God’s judgment on a woman. This is nothing more than a legend or a myth. Incidentally, the Negro race does not constitute the majority of the human family. The yellow race is by far more populous than any other on the face of the earth. In the building of the true Church there are people from every race, from ivory to ebony. God wants His re deemed creatures from all over the world. This is the motivation for mis sions. When we get to heaven, we are going to find that the least im portant thing God considers will be the color of a person’s skin. Page 23
