THE INCARNATION: THE REAL MESSAGE OF CHRISTMAS by Dr. Lloyd T. Anderson Come now and view the manger The Lord of glory see A houseless, homeless Stranger In this poor world for thee. There see the Godhead glory Shine through that human veil, And willing hear the story Of love that’s come to heal. His Incarnation

ised the Redeemer would come. From the very first book (Gen. 3:15) we find that He would be the seed of a woman. The prophetic picture shows Him bruising the serpent’s head. Christ, in whom all these Messianic truths should be fulfilled, brought salvation to all mankind through His shed blood. Matthew 1:23 is a glor ious fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14. Matthew records that Mary was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Thus, by the power of the third per son of the Trinity, the virgin brought forth Christ, the seed of David ac cording to the flesh. His name was called Emmanuel as prophesied. Consider the promise concerning the place of His birth. Micah 5:2, one of the minor prophets, pinpoints Beth lehem exactly. It is fascinating to realize how God overruled in the affairs of men. The taxing of a Ro man emperor caused Mary and Jo seph to go to the city of Bethlehem

In addition to the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the other of the greatest events of history is His incarnation. This is the real message of the Christmas hour. Before this wonderful spiritual burn ing bush, we stand with unshod feet. Here we behold true and holy man hood linked with eternal Deity. This is exactly what took place when the Saviour was bom of the virgin Mary. Ours is to believe, not to explain. Ours is to worship, not always to explore. The incarnation of Jesus Christ is aglow with God’s matchless love and grace. It invites us to ponder rever ently its historic facts. Throughout the Old Testament the Lord prom- Dr. Anderson is the Biola Hour Bible Teacher and Pastor of Bethany Bap tist Church in West Covina, Calif.
