Winston Winston, a.k.a. Winnie, is a beagle mix who was adopted by Jessica, the managing editor for Power Equipment Trade magazine. Jessica didn’t go to Equip expecting to adopt, but Winston captured her heart. “My work life had been particularly stressful leading up to Equip, and Mutt Madness has always been such a wonderful feature of the show I look forward to,” she said. “I’m a diehard animal lover, and our magazine actually runs a feature called ‘Shop PETS’ where we highlight dogs, cats, even goats, that support their owners in the lawn and garden dealership

But Jessica likes to say he’s named in honor of Winston Churchill. “There are a lot of Churchill’s thoughts, writings and ideas that I think greatly changed our world for the better,” she explained, “Winnie has become a beloved member of our pack — my identical twin boys, myself, and our two older dogs love him!”

The dog Jessica had adopted in college was nearing the end of her life, and Jessica thought Winnie would be a good companion for her. “I was right, and some of the sweetest memories I have of her right before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge are of them together,” said Jessica of her older pup who died in December 2023 at the age of 13. Jessica said Winston is a rambunctious puppy, but he also has his sweet and snuggly moments. “One of his more adorable features is that he insists on being on camera during
