PT701 The Nature and Scope of Integration (3)
The course includes a discussion of the models, levels, and areas in which integration of the theological and psychological can occur as well as a framework for conceptualizing the scope of integration in its entirety. Prerequisite: One theology course and second year standing PT702 Systems of Integration A critical evaluation of the works of specific theologians and psychologists who have attempted to integrate the disciplines of psychology and theology. Theorists studied include Adams, Gothard, Mowrer, Browning, Hodge, Tournier, Van Kaam, and Wagner . Prerequisite: PT701 PT703 Guilt, Conscience, and Socialization (2) A discussion of guilt and conscience, including both biblical and psy chological theories on the origins of guilt and conscience and the ex pressions of these theories in therapy. Prerequisite: PT701 and admission to didactic PT704 Anger, Aggression, and Hostility (2) A discussion of anger and related emotions and behaviors, including the
catharsis hypotheses and aggression in fantasy. Prerequisite: PT701 and admission to didactic
PT705 Theological Contributions to the Practice of Psychotherapy (2) A consideration of various viewpoints on the utilization of theological con cepts in psychotherapeutic practice. Attention is given to specific therapeutic interventions consistent with a theological view of man. Prerequisites: PT701 and admission to didactic Additional seminars are offered on an interest or demand basis, including such topics as: • Biblical and psychological perspectives on the nature of man • The development of religious concepts in children • Psychological implications of the doctrine of grace • Biblical and psychological perspectives on maturity Prerequisiste: Completion of core curriculum in psychology and theology
