I n the heart of Madison lies hope for fami- lies grappling with homelessness—the Healing House. Since its opening on July 9, 2019, this 8-bed facility has provided a sanctuary for those who find themselves without a stable home, par- ticularly during crucial times such as recovery from medical procedures, childbirth, or hospi- talization. Here, the ethos of community support and compassion thrives, creating a unique envi- ronment where healing extends beyond physical recuperation to include emotional and social re- covery as well.
Before the establishment of Healing House, families in need faced a daunting reality. When discharged from the hospital, many lacked a safe space to continue their recovery. Home health providers typically deliver follow-up care in the comfort of a patient's home; however, for those experiencing homelessness, this care was often out of reach. Healing House steps into this gap, offering a stable foundation where families can heal with the support of medically-trained staff and volunteers dedicated to their well-being.
