benefit from this program, or if you would like to step up as a mentor yourself, reaching out to Linda Ketcham, Executive Director, is a great first step. Drive to Succeed: Unlocking Potential JustDane’s Drive to Succeed program is tailored specifically for youth aged 17½ to 21 who have faced challenges in their education and person- al lives due to involvement with the criminal justice system. This program not only offers mentoring but also focuses on educational sup- port and the attainment of a driver’s license—an essential milestone for gaining independence and employment opportunities. Understanding the hurdles these young people face, the program is designed to provide a safe and constructive space for growth. By pairing participants with committed mentors, Drive to Succeed fosters a supportive environment where goals can be achieved. Whether it’s com- pleting high school or obtaining a driver’s li- cense, mentors guide their mentees every step of the way. Reading Connections: Strengthening Bonds For parents whose children are unable to visit them regularly—particularly those at Waupun Correctional Institution—Reading Connec- tions offers a unique opportunity to bond and encourage literacy. Through this program, vol- unteers assist parents in recording themselves reading books, allowing them to send these recordings, along with the books and personal letters, to their children.
Changing Lives. Changing the Community.
This initiative not only promotes a love for reading but also strengthens familial ties, reinforcing the understanding that despite physical distance, emotional connections can endure. JustDane is working diligently to reinstate this valuable program after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pan- demic, ensuring that families can continue to foster these important relationships and en- courage the development of their children's literacy skills.
